Hmmmmm... So the next Celica will be a 2.0 liter again eh? Thank god they brought back AWD! Couple of months ago, it was rumored to be a 2.4 liter engine but maybe they favor 3sgte more. Or is it a 3sgte?
Anyways, I wasn't looking down on the 2azfe or anything. Not trying to say its a family/Camry engine, therefore its bad. In fact I do think there's lots of potential in these engines. But seeing how Scion tC is one of the heaviest car in its class, just thought they could have done a better job with the power/weight ratio.

Yeah, it does look kind of wack.

I'll take this one any day: http://www.amecipizzaandpasta.com/my_tc_1.jpg
actually, that tercel's not bad. the body kit does provoke a headturn (along the wheel well). that's the cleanest tercel i've seen. it looks new. (i live in florida, most of them are beatup and old).

ah yes, i too would take that over the tercel any day.

I'm fine with the tC's weight because I use it as a daily driver, not around a twisty track. Daily driving on the streets, low reving high torque motors > high reving honda torque.

If Toyota were to bring back the Celica, it would get slaughtered in sales by the tC. Toyota would have to offer it with something more than it did last generation. The tC sold very well because it offered so much for the price. The the next Celica to be succesful, Toyota would have to either discontinue the tC, or make the Celica a Civic SI contender.

Civic Si contendor = yet another high revving 2.0 Liter engine with higher base hp + second cam to advertise.

When I bought my tC, it was the only sporty car I could afford. Now I'm making a little more money, I'm really REALLY close to trading in my tC for an SI. The only thing holding me back is the dealer mark ups.

I'd buy a sports car made by toyota in a heartbeat. Unfortunately, toyota forgot what a sportscar is.

i would choose the tc over the si,
me and my wife raced a new 4 door si from stop to about 65mph when i let off.
on take off i floored the auto tc and it spun, so did the si (5 speed), from 0-20 we pulled till the si was at our rear bumper, then i heard its vtec kick in, and we stood still then he shifted and our car shifted at 40mph he a little behind out rear bumper, throught his secons he pulled to out rear tire then he shifted into third and i let off at 65 he was by out back tire.

I smell BS. SI are 6-speed, yes even the 4dr not 5 speed.

The SI is half a second quicker to 60 than a manual tC and a full second quicker compared to an auto tC.

I love my tC, but I'm not going to be blind and ignore the fact that there are better cars out there.

I like Toyotas over Hondas, but I give credit where its due.

there are too many factors that go into what happens in a race. so he won, and nice kill. i'd go by consistent statistics and facts.

You're right, one of them is if the other guy even know if he was in a race. Oh well.

as for greddy v-manage, there is a dyno on here somewhere where a n/a tc netted 12 whp. depends on if that type of gain is worth it to you. tuning vvt-i without lift doesn't yield much of a gain.

that is why most just tune the fuel and ignition timing when boosted. it gets the job done.
True, but VVT-i timing is where the power is really at. A boosted member, and one of the most experienced Celica tuners who works with VVT-i tuning seemed to have confirmed that the AEM f/ic doesn't tune VVT-i: http://www.newcelica.org/forums/showthread.php?t=256217.

If the VVT-i tuning interface is there, does it look anything like our Apexi Power FC standalone ECU tuning interface? :

"VVT Map

VVT stands for variable valve timing. The screen will look like this:

Both the 1ZZ and 2ZZ engines have a variable intake camshaft. This is the VVT-i system. The values in the map correspond to advancing or retarding the intake cam. There is no proof of what these values actually represent, but most people feel that 1 on the VVT map roughly equals or exactly equals one degree of movement of the camshaft. The common belief is that a range of 0-55 represents the maximum effective range of the system, with 0 being the most cam advance and 55 being the least. A Toyota technical document explaining fow the VVT-i system works and what settings generally work in different conditions can be found here:

http://users.ameritech.net/trdcelica...xplanation.pdf"

Can you really tune cam angles with this? That's where power from VVT-i tuning is from.

sorry didnt get to finish my post,

well it was three races 1st race and third were the same, me ahead my 1/2 car at 65..., and he missed 2nd on the 2nd race.

all i am saying low end power, is what won, and what makes daily driving fun.

i know as soon as the tc would of shifted to 3rd , i would of been lucky to keep the paint on my doors he definatly would of flew by.
