Default Problems with my tC, tell me if they're normal.

I don't have a lot of problems, and I love the car I just want to know what you guys think.

#1. When I'm listening to music somewhat loud, the trunk rattles. (I have the bazooka sub) I thought that the car has sound dampening material or something, is this normal?

#2. Rear trunk protector (that tape thing with Scion written on it on the bumper) is bubbling up.

#3. We ordered Side-Curtain Airbags, though I have the auto-dim mirror and it's not listed on the invoice as an option.

#4. I picked it up from the dealership, it was not washed and it rained today (There was no wax on the car so it looks VERY dirty this is how I can tell it wasn't washed)

#5. When I'm driving I'll be listening to music (Mp3 CD) and it sounds like the right front seat tweeter is blown out but if I turn it down to 20 or below the sound is still there.

Thanks. Also, I'm sorry I have no pics I'll try and post some tomorrow or something.

None of those problems are normal.

Good luck getting scion to fix them. May you have better luck than I have.

Mines been broken and has way more issues since 80 miles on it at the end of June. Car has been a nightmare. Good luck.

This is normal, most likely what you hear vibrating is either the sub or the license plate.

#2. Rear trunk protector (that tape thing with Scion written on it on the bumper) is bubbling up.

Not normal, take it to the dealer.

#3. We ordered Side-Curtain Airbags, though I have the auto-dim mirror and it's not listed on the invoice as an option.

Normal. You can't get the auto-dim mirror and the side airbags, only one or the other. The dealer should have told you this before you paid for the car or you could've found out yourself on scion.com

#4. I picked it up from the dealership, it was not washed and it rained today (There was no wax on the car so it looks VERY dirty this is how I can tell it wasn't washed)

I guess this varies by dealer. You can try complaining to them.

#5. When I'm driving I'll be listening to music (Mp3 CD) and it sounds like the right front seat tweeter is blown out but if I turn it down to 20 or below the sound is still there.

Not normal. Take it back to the dealer.

Also, I don't want to discourage anyone from getting a tC, but after delivery of mine I'm very displeased with my dealer. I think I want to start going to a different one.

When I got it the trunk options I got were installed incorrectly.

Also I bought the Trunk net but my salesman forgot to tell me that it won't even freakin' fit right if you have the sub.

But the stock sub sounds very good, and after I replace the stock speakers I'm hopping the stereo will sound much better as a whole. (Not to say that the stereo isn't good, the stock stereo is one of the best I've ever heard.)

This is normal. Cheap ___ speakers + too much volume + not enough power = distortion. Either turn the stereo down or upgrade equipment.

I did turn it down, not only that but I ask my friends in the passenger seat if they hear it and they say they don't.

20 is still quite high, try it around 15 and see if there is a diffrence, also it might be the quality of the mp3 as well, if your trying to bump a low qaulity mp3 its gonna sound like ____

20 is high? I listen to my stereo at 35 or more regularly, and 45 or 50 with the windows down. Have the dealer replace the speaker.

Your dealer (or the port, I suppose) screwed up the install on the rear bumper applique. Have them fix (replace) it.

Trunk rattling with the sub is pretty normal if you're playing loud, bass-heavy music.

Are you saying you have side airbags and the auto-dimming mirror? I believe it is possible to have both, but the install is tricky since you have to remove the airbag covers on the A-pillar. Maybe you just got lucky.

I'm saying I think we were told we had them but we don't. Makes me kind of mad.

Also, I think that 20 is also kinda low.

Does the trunk still rattle with the sub off? I haven't been in a TC yet that didn't rattle from the rear, stereo on or off. It has nothing to do with the stereo.

I don't have a sub, but my trunk doesn't rattle at all. use the bass/treble and fader to isolate and determine if it's the music that makes the trunk rattle or if it just rattles. if it's the music, not much you can do.

and I, like jason, listen to the stereo at 35+. I consider "turning it down" to be 30 or lower. my speakers sound fine. try different discs/radio stations in it and use the balance/fade to isolate the distortion. if it is indeed the speaker and not just a funky cd then you should definately take it back. when you do take it back take with you whatever cd it is you play when you hear the distortion.

as for the bumper applique, whoever applied it apparently did it wrong. also a dealer issue.

as for the side curtain airbags and the auto dimming mirror, my dealer told me it was one or the other due to wiring conflicts and Scion/Toyota wouldn't let them do both. he said it could be done, but just not by them. if your dealer is claiming you got both you should have the AD mirror and the "SRS Side Airbags" stamp on the side pillars of your car. if not, and you were charged for both, then raise some hell at your dealer, bro.

no. I just wanted to know if rattling was normal with a sub.

No its not normal.

I had a sub in my car, and even cranked as loud as it would go it would not cause any rattles. Now drive 1/4 mile down the road and it was too many rattles to count.

Friend has a 10" in his TC and it doesn't rattle with the sub either. Considering the TC factory sub is something like 100 watts, and my friends and my sub are/were pushing 700+ watts to much nicer subs, the factory sub should not cause any rattling.

So nick are you saying that the car just rattles uncontrollably from NOTHING? I am curious as I don't want a car that is going to rattle at all, since I will be putting in a TON of hgh end audio..

I know I will have to sound deaden my car to begin with anyway. Probably from the ground all the way up with Dynamat Extreme but if I am going with a 1000+ watt sub, (a Image Dynamics IDMAXX12 for instance) and it will rattle WITHOUT anything at all then I might consider buying a diff car....

How bad has your experience been?

Can you post here or send me an email?

Thanks

Ryan

rattles can be anything from a brake light wire thats bouncing around to your jack and tools not properly stowed away. i have two tens 200+ watts rms and yes if you listen really hard you can hear stuff rattling, its probably my license plate holder, but still not as bad as my last car (a satrun where the "oh ____ handles fell off 'cause of the bass). as for the tweeter problem is it only with mp3 cds if so its the cd. i've burned acouple of cds that i swear sound like i have blown tweeters but change disks and no problem.

Mo good to know..

Thanks..

Yeah i know about rattle... I will be dynamatting the car anyways.. including especially the license plate holder... and everything else I can get my hands on. I don't care enough about the extra weight at all.. That's what the s/c is for.

If you have your window sticker it will tell you if you have side air. Since it's a factory option it will be listed.
