Default Question: Possibility of DIY LED lights?

I came across this website:

http://superbrightleds.com/1157.htm

and wonder if any of these LED lights can be used for the tC, interior and/or exterior

Would it work, for example, for the rear turn signals? It'll be cool, and cheap mod....any comments??

No it wouldn't work for the exterior. LEDs aren't bright enough to use in signal applications yet. Remember, an LED transmits light straight ahead and not in a spherical pattern like an incandescent bulb. Even the LED bulb replacements with the LEDs surrounding the sides don't work as well as a regular bulb.

I would just wait for the TYC tail lights to come out. They supposedly use LEDs.

A lot of luxury cars now use LEDs for their taillights (BMW 3-series coupe, Infiniti G35 coupe, Audi A8L, Merc E-class & S-class)

Wouldn't these LED be able to be retrofitted unto the tC?

The tail light has to be designed around LEDs using specific optics. They use arrays of LEDs, not a single point source like in a standard tail light.

Retrofitting an LED replacement bulb in a socket designed for an incandescent bulb is unsafe. It just isn't bright enough.

Here are some led headlights made by clear corners for the tc:http://www.clearcorners.com/products...nTC1/F_hlamp1/

They also have turn signals and are coming out with tail lights eventually. I like the design but just not that silver color of them.

I love those lights but they're like a 1000 something too much for me .

What a ripoff. They just shoehorned in a cheap LED array. I wouldn't trust those LEDs to reflect properly off an assembly designed around bulbs. It just doesn't work even if they put on a "prismatic lens."

Those Hella Optilux bulbs are pretty crappy too. Same blue filter crap that is used on Silverstars. Same reduced lifespan even if they tweak the gas mixture in the bulb.

Save your money - don't buy this crap.
