Replacing master keys mean replacing immobilizer?

Default Replacing master keys mean replacing immobilizer?

so i was browsing through the tC owners manual and i saw in there where it said if you lost both your master keys then you have to get a hole new immobilizer for the car. is this true or is it a way for the dealer to make extra money
