Whats funny is how the term rice has changed meanings so much. Used to ANYTHING , be it a car or motorcycle, that was made in japan was called a "rice rocket", and had nothing whatsoever to do with how they were modified. Now, it seems that any little kiddie that doesnt like another kids car calls it rice. They either mean that it has mods that do not increase performance (so I guess AC, windshield wipers and a stereo are rice), big ugly spoilers and body kits... it goes on and on. It is just some random term. The point is that it is a bunch of punk a$$es arguing about whose 4 banger is better. I could give one rats a-hole about what people think of my car. I do what I want. I happend to like clean, well thought out mods (and no body kits, big spoilers, etc) but that is just me. I paid for my car and I will do what I like with it. It seems that there are way too many people worried way too much about what others think of them. And even better, what a bunch of a-hole wieners think of them. Tell em to go get some milk and cookies and go to bed. They can come back when the grow up and act thier age

 

Agreed, I hate on other tC's who's parents obviously have bought them everything.

There's one that on these forums who's 16 or something and has "internet guts" but once the trash talking comes face to face he's like a Michael Jackson boy love victim.

I just hate spoiled kids. I want to put them on that show, "you've been kicked in the nuts!"

 

The worst comment ive ever got was my box was ugly but its still cool. (still trying to figure out exactly what that means) and ive never used the word rice i just say it looks like crap

 

yeah.. i know what you mean. My grandmother bought the tC for me and her to drive while im in high school. Its my first car and everything so im really fortunate, but i also have a will to work for my mods and everything. So im spoiled in one way, but in another i have also not spent a dime and worked 7 days a week for the past 8 months so i can buy the supercharger or turbo with my own money. I basically worked hard to play hard, i dunno.

 

If someone calls you a ricer and you have a stock car, tell them to read, becasue that does not qualify you for ricer status. Now, if you have a messed up body kit that doesnt fit, you think your fast when your running over 15 secs in the 1/4 mile, and you cut off your exhaust to really hear that lawn mower roar, then just take the ricer comments with your head held high, becasue you deserve it.
Personally, the two cars i have owned have both been japanese cars. Before my XA i drove a 2001 nissan frontier. It was the non superchrged version, but was faster then the supercharged one. I only got compliments for it. As for my XA, it also is sure as hell not stock, but i never get confused for a ricer, becasue i do not succomb to the popularity ricer mods from my generation. The most "ricerness" i will have is a carbon fiber hood that is almost here, and the only reason i ordered it is becasue during Huricane Katrina a shingle decided my hood was a good place to land, and i later found one cheap on ebay, so i bought it. But you wont even really be able to notice it, my car is phantom grey pearl.
All ive ever gotten from my two "ricer" cars is compliments, and those that know me know that im a muscle car guy, go figure. ohh, and i love Beth...aka my Xa

 

i find it funny that most of the people bashing on tCs drive cookie-cutter, 110 hp, dime-a-dozen, grocery-getting, people-movers who claim it to be a sports car. let em say whatever they want. i love my car, and it does what its supposed to do fantastically. the tC is NOT a supercar, or even a sports car for that matter. but its also not a ho-hum forgettable car that everyone and their parents have.

 

well my parents did buy me the car they promised if i got good grades untill i was 16 i could get the car and if i get below a B i get the car taken away but i have to pay for all the mods and my insurance but Bobby_Lee i cant exactly comment on their cars because the last time i looked the the nice Focus SVT the guy with the crx yelled at me lol

 

Okay, I stood on "O" street (which is the big cruising strip) in Lincoln for 7 hours straight last night. ANY tC would have been in the top 5 hottest cars out there!

HOLY CRAP!! Lincoln is where old, rusty Cavaliers, Berettas, and Camaros go to die isn't it? Also, WTF is with the Neons???? I swear I saw a dozen of them with horrific exhausts and wings big enough to serve a wedding buffet on.

I saw two decent Hondas, one nice '34 Ford, and 300,000 drunk people walking (very responsible town that Lincoln).

Even a box stock tC would've been better than 95% of the stuff out there last night.

Tell anybody that flips you crap about your ride to bite your pickle.

Umm...im pretty sure lincoln has some nice cars my dad has a 2001 porsche turbo x50, my neighbor has 2 vipers, someone down the block from me has a porsche GT3, and a person that belongs to my country club had a 360 modena but he crashed it so he bought an F430

You shouldn't let a bunch of immature douchebags who let movies run their lives keep you from doing what you want to your car.

Also I think the reason the tC's arent getting 'nuff respect is because they were ONLY made for the US market, but I could be wrong. I actually like them though, as long as its made from a Japanese company and looks nice.

 

 

Well, none of them were out on Friday night! You should've come down to the club and hung out with us man. We had a good time just loitering on the sidewalk and making fun of Neon exhausts.

Well I got my car as a present for my birthday so no i obvisouly didnt pay for it with my hard earned money however I also live 18 hours away from my parents go to college, pay for an apt, and work fulltime until 5 o clock on the morning ( I also didnt ask for a car my old one was breaking down and my dad decided to get me a new one, I didnt argue ) I always though ricers as people with any car civics, neons, camaros etc that lower their springs by cutting them, put huge mufflers on their cars, and put stickers on their cars from other perfomance models like type s and type r and then say their car is fast. I always though that almost any car can be tuned for perfomance no matter what brand or how ugly, but taking a car and doing things to it that hinder performance and then saying your car is fast because it has a type r sticker or a vtec sticker being a ricer to me.

 

^werd. i think this guy has the general idea of a "ricer" down. i too am probably gonna end up in his situation with the whole college/rent/work/car thing. lol. i'll miss my hand-me-down

 

Who cares what other people think because lets face it, no matter what you do to you car people are going to talk crap. Just do what you want and not take anything to personally. Why should you care about others opinion??? its your car do what you like. You can add the TRD exhaust and to some "its ricy" even tho its factory. besides the way i see it, them civic guys are jus haters cuz the tC was basically meant to be a civic killer.

 

Yeah Alex i was planning on going down there and checking it out for a while but i ended up going to a hockey game
