here's the simple fact:
it happened.. and it existed a long time ago... it has since been discontinued for the reasons mentioned above.

it's not returning... nor do i expect it to ever do so.

there is just too much effort involved in reviving the feature.. as well as even much more to get it to work without the potential drama that WILL occur when it happens

First off, ScionLife.com originally did have a ROTM feature - when the site was small enough that the whole thing was still being run by one person and he worked it full time.

It continued on having a ROTM when he had maybe a half dozen folks working the site and could off-load a lot of the detail work to people dedicated to doing specific assignments. The site was still small.

Eventually it just became too much, and Darren let us all know that month's ROTM was the last one - it had just become too much work.

Since that time, several years now, we haven't had a ROTM for several reasons:

1) The founder of the site no longer wanted to take on that intense level of involvement

2) The founder of the site - and now Internet Brands - are the only folks who have direct access to the site's "Front Page" and can make changes there.

3) There has been no one with the desire to initiate a new ROTM feature, and definitely not the dedication to spend hours and hours on the feature each and every month to make sure things get done and done right.

4) There have not even been any well worked out suggestions (takes effort) on how to run a ROTM feature and keep it from turning into a popularity contest controlled by a clique.

If folks really want a ROTM feature it can happen, but not by simply loading a bunch of work onto someone else: The work needs to be done by the folks who want the feature.

As far as where it could be, especially without involving IB a lot, I could set up for example, a dedicated, unique, view only forum ("ScionLife Ride of the Month") that only the folks running the feature could post threads to, and place it at the head of the forum lists. To do this there would have to be a dedicated team to do the work AND viable rules to run it.

There would also have to be judging criteria to make it as fair as possible: It's not just who is popular, who has done the "most work," or who has spent the most time or money - it is the end result, and it's NOT just tCs...

It is not just what is done, but how well it is done. And finally, did it somehow make the car better then it was...

Back at you, folks.
