Dude I had a wreck and the body shop my insurance company let me use is charging 5800 alone to replace the whole front end... add doors and your probably looking at 8000 to get that puppy fixed... Id say pass.

thier is a reason why it is salvaged! Insurance companies want to get the customers car fixed. unless it cost 80% or more to fix it , then it is SALVAGED!

Wow... they say no frame damage... hope not since it (As well as practically every other car) is unibody construction.

5 - 6k to fix? Yeah right. That car is totalled. If it wasnt, the insurance company would not be selling it. The only use for that car is a parts car, no more. You will end up having more than the car is worth in it before you are done, and then will be worried that there are things you did not find down the road.

Thanks for all the posts - you guys/gals are right. I'd be digging a ditch for myself with this auction.

Unless you own a body shop or get free use of one and have some illegal aliens you can hire for cheap and buddies in the wrecking yard business and.....

My advice is RUN, don't walk, away from that as fast as you can!!!!!!

There is strutural damage that is not easy to replace or repair and the rest of the parts alone will cost far more than the car will be worth in the end.

I would not mind having it for a parts car myself but the only parts I would want are the engine and tranny so still not worth it.

The guy just emailed me back and said, "Jon, Thank you for your interest. It runs and steers fine. All the doors open and close properly. Feel free to call for an appointment to see it."

Well......i think i might just drive up to Brooklyn and take a look tomorrow. Just to see it and drive it around the parking lot. If all the damage is cosmetic, I might just fix the bare essentials. But he wants too much for it out of auction, so "No way" w/ that. But just for fun, i'll run up there...and try to not get suckered into anyting. (i hate salesmen)

Well, you have been warned, I have seen so many people end up with an unfinished, way overly cost estimate pile of junk it is not even funny;)

At least do yourself a favor and price out all the parts first before you buy this thing.

Don't get mad, you asked for opinions but it does not seem you really want to hear the answers. Jon will tell you whatever it takes to sell it off, far more profit to be made right now on it as not many of the parts left will sell anytime in the near future.

I wish you well.

I listened to all the opinions and like I said, I am just going to take a look - but you all convinced me i'd be better off going into debt financing a new Tc than financing what it would cost be to fix this. Thanks for the thoughts.

that crash cost about 8K to fix, so I dont think the salvage scion is worth it.
A little off topic, but I was looking at your album when I got to picture 9 and busted out laughing.

Run from this car. Wrecked cars are never the same no matter how good it is repaired. Its also a new car so you cant get cheap parts from a junkyard. It would cost a ton to fix it even if you do all your own work.

I don't think that windshield damage is from a person. There would have been more damage to other interior areas if the driver's body had managed to make it to the windshield. Especially since the damage to the windshield is off to the side.

I see lots of parts I want. Drivers side head rest for my passenger side, a full size spare, 3rd brake light, and the tails to experiment with for color changes.

^^One of the reasons to stay away from the car if you plan on driving it daily.^^^

Now if it was going to be strictly a track car, then it might be worth it. Rick know ALOT about cars, I've known him for a while back in matrixowners.com days. He's a wealth of info!

that's pretty much what I was going to post. you should only buy that car if you plan on (and can) sell off the parts. do it right and you might even be able to make enough for a new tC. it would be a ton of work doing it, though.

Do two things before you go:

1. (If you wear a hat) Put a tag on the underside of the bill saying "Under no circumstances am I going to buy this car."

2. Put same message over your credit card in your wallet.

Safe inspecting! =)
