I love that bunny picture.

I had never driven a stick for more than a minute or two before I got the xA. Basically it's like everyone else is saying; There will be a definate learning period, in which time you will stall it a few times probably. It took me a good solid week of driving alot to get it down so everything was relatively smooth, and I felt that other people could ride in the car without being jostled around. If driving a stick in the tC is anything like driving the stick in an xA, you'll be fine, these cars are very easy to drive. I get in my other friends manual cars, and wonder how the hell they put up with some of them.

Just go to the dealer and if you can test drive it, have the dealer teach you there. not much to it. You could just practice in the tc too. Its like your friends civic anyways.

Yes. The tC is very forgiving. Always remember, If you see the RPM's drop, or feel the car shake... push the clutch in.

Find the friction point on your car. That's where the car starts moving without even gassing it. Just go to a level road and release the clutch slowly until the car moves. If you do it correctly, your car will go and you can eventually release the clutch completely without touching the gas.

And practice makes perfect. Good luck

Im a bit rusty rite now, scared to drive my tC home when i get it :T but here's the story of my stick shift driving

1 day... some _______ got drunk smashed into my car O_o... i went home and took it to the local body shop.... k it's gonan take a week they said. so my bro lend me his crx O_o

i had no lessons, the first time i drove it was okay cuz i drove rite to the highway to my college, stalled out when parking and my bro parked it and i left that ____ sat there for ... 3 weeks or so, then came my gf O_o i got a gf XD

so i decided to take her on the most bumpyest ride tthrough the city -_- i stalled 12 times driving 2 miles in rush out -_-

after that i got mad and then i drove all nite... next day she refused to sit in the car so i drove down the street once and she said okay she'll get in... then she said wow you've improved that much in 1 night... i was like yupperz, i r leetzor ^_^

i practiced at a new neighborhood with smooth pavement and not too many stop signs... enough to shift from stopped position to first second and 3rd if i speed through the area ;)

then i ended up using that car for 6 months LOL, fun times >_< i miss the crx -_- well that's over with.... now i'll get my tC soon and yippie

I learned on a band new at the time 04 jetta jli that my buddy and I test drove. He wasnt goin to get me learn on his gti so we thought, ah hell lets go test drive a car and teach me how to drive a stick. It took me about 20 mins, no stalls no grinding, so I thought I caught on pretty good.

when you guys say you learned how to drive stick in 30 mins, either you are damn fast learners with a really good teacher or are talking abt just getting the going

actually driving stick is different - i cant say i speak from experience, but im sure there is a difference between going from home to work and conquering mountain side roads properly

sure most people could get a car going, but they also prolly ride the clutch and other things a more experienced driver wouldnt do

that being said - i learned stick on a 99 corolla, they say its always better to learn on a less torquey engine because it forces you to learn to drive - since the car is not as forgiving, you HAVE to be in the right gear at the right time - meaning learning on 105 hp engine will do u more justice than the 160 hp engine the tC...you get a lot more slack, not necessarily a good thing

aside from that, the tC is a relatively easy car to drive, i test drove an RSX type S and the tC back to back and upon putting the tC into first and moving i said "wow, this is so much easier to drive"

anyways, have fun, enjoy the car if you decide to get it....

prior to getting my manual tC, i had an integra gsr (also manual). let me just say that driving that car compared to my tC is so much easier, but that's also because the clutch was slipping. anyhow, to make a long story short, i didn't get enough experience driving my gsr because it got stolen 5 days after i bought it..nice huh?? so i decided to get another manual car, the tC. i got it june 24th, will be going on my 3rd week having it. i suggest driving it at night for the first week around the block and on a hilly road (to get used to stopping and going), that's what i did until i got comfortable with putting it into 1st and 2nd gear. in my 2nd week, i started taking it out for short trips, like to the mall or somewhere within 5 minutes. i freaked when there would be a car behind me at a hill, but i still got it down. now, on my 3rd week... i'm a lot better. my first gear rocks, and shifting is still a bit bumpy..but i make it from point a to point b. don't know if many will agree with my practicing tecniques for a new driver at stick..but that's how i did.. and hope it'll help.
