Well as being the original owner of 2007 Scion tC bought back in December of 2006...there are some issues about the oil consumption on a lot of the vehicles. toyota released a TSB concerning the issue a few years ago but I'm just now finding out about this. I was always wondering why the engine burned so much oil every time I did an oil change. My engine would drop out about 1.5 qts of oil when the car uses about 4 1/2 qts. Mind you I usually change my oil every 5K miles but I did mine yesterday at 4,300 miles. I noticed these issues a few years ago but was always told that our engines just eat oil. Apparently that might not be the case as their are numerous people reporting that they too burn through a lot of oil and have to add a quart or more between oil changes. Here is the link for the TSB bellow.

Hopefully Toyota can fix/repair/replace my issues without me having to drop even one cent.

Our reliability stats for the tC now cover the year ending June 30, 2015. (Others are over a year behind, and so report how these cars were doing when a year younger.)

Repair trips per 100 cars:

2006 tC: 52, low, very small sample size
2005 tC: 55, low, very small sample size

If a model year isn't listed, then we especially need more owners involved.

purchased mine in august 2007 as a 2008 scion TC. Never had a problem. Did the regular maintenance and I only change the water pump at 156xxx miles.

We've updated our reliability stats for the tC to include owner experiences through September 30, 2015.

Repair frequencies, in terms of repair trips per 100 cars per year:

2006 tC: 42, low, very small sample size
2005 tC: 48, low, very small sample size

We'll have further updates in February and in May. Additional participants are needed to provide precise stats for all model years.

We've updated our reliability stats for the tC to include owner experiences through the end of 2015, about eight months ahead of other sources. In terms of repair trips per 100 cars per year--lower is better:

2006 tC: 12, low, very small sample size
2005 tC: 55, low, very small sample size

We've updated our reliability stats for the tC to include owner experiences through June 30, 2016. Reliability information elsewhere is based on a survey conducted in April 2015--well over a year ago.

Repair frequencies, in terms of repair trips per 100 cars per year (lower is better):

2006 tC: 14, low, very small sample size
2005 tC: 40, low, very small sample size

We'll have further updates in November and next February. The more owners participate, the more comprehensive and precise these will be.
