Shift knob experts....what do I need here?
I just replaced my stock shift **** with a cool silver "carbon fiber" leather one to match my custom interior. The problem though is that this doesn't sit as low as the stock and now there's this huge gap. The **** isn't a Momo, but it's similar, so it uses allen bolts to secure at the bottom and has the screw on ring at the bottom. What can I use to get the boot up to the shift **** to remove the gap? Is there something which would replace the holder in the boot and possible the screw on cap at the bottom of the ****? If there's something out there which would allow me to pull the boot up a little and screw onto the bottom of the ****, that'd be perfect.
Suggestions?

You might be able to push up the boot if you can get underneath it and see if there are some adjustments.
Some people cut their shaft (no, I'm not talking about a San Francisco man). I had a buddy who did that. He bought one of those shift ***** that look like a toilet paper roller and it looked like he had a broomstick as a shifter. He cut it about 2 inches and it looked slick after that.

Yeah, mine was cut about two inches also. It looks taller than it had before with this ****. Not sure if I like it just yet. Maybe one of the ball ones would be better.
What kind of adjustments would there be under the boot?

I haven't seen it myself but it's probably a ring that sits in a groove to hold the boots position. If you can't move it up, perhaps you can get a dremmel, create your own groove and set the boot's ring there. It's a pain, that's why I don't change the ***** in my cars.
If you get a ball, you'll wind up with a larger gap since ***** don't have sleeves like the more "traditional" shaped *****.

IIRC I had the same problem in my last car. I looked down in the shift **** where the shifter gets inserted and saw there is actually a "stopper" before the actual height of the ****, I ended up drilling it out. I really dont know how to explain it, but after drilling it out the shifter itself was actually touching the inner top of the ****. Like you said its not a screw on so it most likely has the same symptoms as I'm describing.
Thanks everyone. I removed the center console piece, inverted the "silver ring thing" and VOILA, 100% better!
kdog_1981, thanks for the compliments about the seats. The car is Flint Mica, so the dark is to match that. The silver accents compliment the silver of the center dash. It's all that "carbon fiber" look leather, so it's pretty sweet. I want to finish it up, having the rest of the roof done.

Haha, I actually walked out from the store into the parking lot and up to a FM tC which I assumed was mine. Just as I was about to try to open the door, I noticed stock seats. My heart almost dropped. In the 2 seconds before I realized it wasn't my car, this whole scenerio played out in my head of someone breaking in, stealing my seats and swapping with their stock ones. Damn FM tC's are all over the place here in the Los Angeles area.

hahaha you know, I've had weird thoughts like that before, I think it's normal. Or maybe it isn't and we need to justn ever talk about it in public again.
Either way, I like the interior, it looks great. Leather's not my thing for comfort reasons, but the look is definately smooth.

that interior is absolutey gorgeus! AND I NEVER SAY GORGEUS! wtf! awesome job - how much did having all that custom cost you, i agree with whoever said that is the first tasteful use of shoulder straps i have seen.
haha, thanks. I wish I could tell you exactly how much it was, but the kid I bought the car from had it all done by his buddy. I think he told me it was around $600 for the seats, shift boot and side panels, but that's only because it was his buddy and he got a huge discount. I believe normally it'd be $1200-$1500. I'm still considering giving the friend a call to see if I can get the A & C pillars and the top done in the same type material. With the two tone, perhaps the dark "stainless steel" color on the roof and pillars? Was going to go with the light silver color all the way on top, but someone said since my seats are two tone, go with the dark up top. Not sure how that'd look, but it's an idea.
thanks for all the compliments, guys.
