There\'s about a $5,000 difference between the 2 cars.

and to me its pretty much 5,000 more for 40 more hp, and a slightly better tranny?

ive been in both and i feel the tC has a much nicer interrior, but the SI has more hp, but if you have the money and you buy a tC and use leftover money for a turbo, by by SI!

The SI is just slightly quicker than a tC. I raced one and I only lost 1/2 a car\'s length. I took the lead up to about 40mph, after that, VTEC kicked in and kicked my ****.

A turbo in the tC will roast an SI.

both cars have strong and weak points. When it all boils down though, i don't think the civic is worth an extra 5 grand.
If if cost 20 grand, id say go ahead and get it.

Go out and test drive both of them. That way you know. Dont settle for something just because its less expensive. Either way your gonna be making payments on it. So rather be happy then saying 'Damn I should of boughten something else. My advise, go out and have some fun test driving.

Get whatever makes you happy. Test drive a Si and a tC, look at the features, think about what mods (if any) you want, and buy based on those comparisons.

I could have bought a Civic Si or Cobalt SS, but when I bought my tC, it wasn't all about horsepower (and it's still not for me), I needed a hatchback that was fun to drive and got good gas mileage on 87 gas; the Si and SS don't meet those requirements, so my choice was easy.

My hubbie has an SI and I have a TC. I love both of them. You can tell the difference in speed with the Si and the handling is alot better in the SI. He raced a TC at the track a few weeks ago and he won all he was is header , intake and exhaust. It was a good race to watch, I was rooting for the TC of well.

Like everyone else is saying test drive them both, to see what you prefer.

I don\'t have any mods in my car, it\'s 100% stock.

The SI isn\'t that much quicker.

SI:
0-60 7.2 sec
1/4 mile 15.6 sec
60-0 braking distance : 125 ft
200 ft skidpad : 0.85 g
Curb Weight : 2877 lbs
Overall length : 174.8 in.
Wheelbase : 104.3 in.
Overall Width : 68.9 in.
Height : 53.5 in.

tC:
0-60 7.4 sec
1/4 mile 15.7 sec
60-0 braking distance : 125 ft
200 ft skidpad : 0.81 g
Curb Weight : 2905-2970 lbs
Overall length : 174.0 in.
Wheelbase : 106.3 in.
Overall Width : 69.1 in.
Height : 55.7 in.

As you can see, the car\'s dimension is close to one another. The SI having a 40hp and about 100lbs lighter advantage give it the slight edge.

I am actually quite disappointed that for $5,000 more the SI is just slightly quicker than the tC.

However, I am pleased that the tC isn\'t that far behind the SI considering it\'s $5,000 cheaper.

I chose the Tc mainly for the gas mileage. Not to mention it looks pretty sick on the outide. Cheaper price is a plus. If you don't plan on turbocharging it, you could always supercharge the tc, and still be under warranty.

The price difference is about 5000.

for $1850.00 you can be at 200whp supercharged (I love the sound of the supercharger!)http://www.trdsparks.com/displaypart...3&parts_id=634

I'd say tc ftw. =)

I'm turbocharged now, so that says how much I care about warranty, lol.

Ok, now heres the FACTS:

I traded the tC in to get an 08 SI. MUCH MUCH NICER. Heres why:

SI: 6 Speed
tC: 5 Speed

SI: LSD Stock
tC: optional add on $$$

SI: Much nicer interior
tC: Blah

SI: More potential
tC: Have fun finding parts

To whomever said the SI runs a 15.6 is full of it. MOST Si driver get them between 14.0 - 15.0 STOCK. I got a 14.8 STOCK. tC cant even break 15.3 stock.

PROOF:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fhWttLZ0EmU

The suspension on the Si is WAY better from the factory. You actually get nice bucket /race style seating. The arm rest is adjustable. The cars lighter, the cars more fun to drive.

The tC, falls on its face in 3rd gear. and isnt fun after a while. I know, ive gone the all motor route AND turbo route with the tC.

Go test drive both. You WILL NOT be signing with scion. To whomever said the SI was 5k over that of a tC, is WRONG aswell.

tC: MSRP:: 17,620
Si: MSRP:: 21,110

Differance? $3,490

Add in that price for an LSD + Installation = another 1600 in cost for the tC, minimum.

Turbo a tC and kill an SI? no ____. HOWEVER, Turbo SI> Turbo tC > S/C Si > S/C tC.

Insurance was only 22 doallars mroe than the tC, so no bank breaker there either.
