\"tC: MSRP:: 17,620
Si: MSRP:: 21,110

Differance? $3,490 \"

Full of ****

Civic SI
$21,110-car
$635-destination
---------
$21,745 (not including dealer markups).
hondacars.com

Scion tC
$16,400-car
$620-destination
---------
$17,020 (set price, dealer can\'t charge a penny more)
scion.com

$21,745-SI
$17,020-tC
--------------
$4,725 Do the math.

The numbers I posted are from auto journalists who have been working with cars for decades, not by a bunch of noobs on youtube relying on the butt dyno.

I like the Civic Si coupe. The sedan, not so much because of the styling. Not to say that it's bad, it's just not my taste. It's definitely faster than the tC and you would have to put money into the tC to catch up but then it all comes down to what your goals are with the car, etc. etc. Like earlier posters said, I would test drive both and see what you like better.

I was torn between the two, and still am to some degree myself. I have an 06 Tc, and want a little more power, and I dont like the stereo and bazooka sub. The SI has an increadible factory stereo, and the 6 speed would be nice. However, not only is it quite a bit more up front; but the cost of ownership is way higher.

The SI gets worse fuel economy at an extra 20cents per gallon.

I pay 95 per month insurance on the Tc (24 years old, no accidents or tickets)
My insurance agent quoted me at about 130 per month on the SI.

So, it will/may cost you an extra 60 bucks per month to drive the SI. When youre a poor student that makes quite a difference.

Plus, gas prices will continue to rise.

I would say, I liked the power and rev of the SI, and if you want a sporty 4 door, its the way to go, but if your cash flow leaves something to be desired, go with the Tc, and know that you still have a cool car.

Well i also considered both. But the tC was better on the pockets. When i see an Si around i do think about my choice a little. I mean they are both great cars for there class. Also check out the GTI its a pretty quick car as well. Just another option for you. But do test drive them and go with what you need and dont choose it cause someone else said too. Its your car and your gonna be driving it. I do love my tC it does have a lil bit to be desired but what vehicle when you buy it doesnt. And if you get a tC 07 up the supercharger is not 1870 sumthin like someone mentioned earlier in the post your looking at 2700ish and then install prices. But hey good luck and enjoy whatever you buy.

Smeone addressed the torque issue, but yeah, I wouldnt be caught dead in any honda unless it was turbo. Eevn honda's luxury division boast high hp and low torque...cough
cough s2000, wth, it pushes the amount of torque a tC pushs stock.

Yeah obviously torque doesnt win the race, cause then a s2000 and a stock tC would be neck n neck. That 3000-5000$, get the supercharged tc, itll eat that si.......

But si's speedometer os sick!!!!!

I would of gotten the 4 door si if they had it when I bought my tC. I miss not having 4 doors. But you can fit almost anything in the hatch of the tC.
Depends on personal taste.

the hatch in the tc is definitely a true statement. when i was moving to jersey, i fit a twin sized bed, four garbage bags full of clothes, electronics, my computer, and my monitor in the front seat... along with my g/f (ex) squeezed to the left corner of the back. also my back window wasn't clogged so i could see through the rvm.
afterwards, when my parents bought the 37" lcd lg t.v, the whole thing fit in the back with enough space so that it isn't cramped up.
i bought it for gas comfort, space, enough power, and the bucket seats .
within one year and two months i put on 35,200 miles on my car, and it still runs like a champ without any problems what so ever... just takes longer than before to warm up in the winter. i would never trade my car for another, it fits my needs perfectly. i'm going to ride that thing until it dies lol

well it really is up to you. The SI simply has 11.5:1 compression ratio and the tC only has 9.6:1 so there is a little difference, but then again if you look at the trq, the tC beats the SI. My friend has an SI and i raced him, lemme say it wasnt a beat.

My tC is fully gutted w/ all bolt on parts you can get, my car weighed in at a wopping 2800 lbs, and his car only has intake and exhaust, we were dead even.

if you wanna spend the money get a VW GTI and chip it, i raced 2 of them by ppl i know and they both smoked me, or just get an RSX-S those are better.

PS. the tC is classified as a liftback, not a hatchback - the SI is a coupe since it actually has a trunk seperate from the car.

You'll get more value if you are for the tC. Everything the tC has, including the scion nav system, is cheaper than the Si with their nav. The TRD supercharger matches the Si's HP for 1K more than their sticker price.

i read a track review on that, the tC w/ the SC still couldnt beat the SI on the track, from what the article said, they did 5 1/4 mile runs and only 1 time did the tC get an exact match at the SI

i blame that to the crappy stock tires the tc has... put a set of whatever tires the Si is running and i bet you would see a large improvement
the weakest part of the tc isn't the engine.. its the suspension and stock tires both which can be taken care of very easily

btw what happend to my last post in this thread ... it disappeared?

the interior of the si is probably the worst i have ever seen, it reminds me a lot of the chevy lumina minivan,

you seriously can crawl up on the dashboard and take a nap. and its all coming out at you.. with the speedo up top, its just retarded

and the tC is much more versitile with the social seating and such.. its like a pick up truck!

plus come on.. a civic? are you a 15 year old girl???

i don\'t care about handling on a race track or racing a bunch of wal-mart cashiers after hours dodging cones in the parking lot.

my car will spend its time on the street and the tC is perfect for that. i just want to be able to squish the other fool next to me when the light turns green or when i feel like it. so yes, i just need a straight line car.

i\'m hoping Ford offers massive rebates on their Mustang GTs. If they dip down to $22,000 I\'m getting one on the spot.

the tC looks nicer. the si looks like it came out from between two cheeks...
if you know how to drive it, the tc could beat an si. besides... how often are you going to be street racing or driving in the really high rpms

C\'mon Ford, how about some massive rebates:

300hp/320ft-lbs :drools: Intake and exhaust alone will give an extra 20ish hp.

Ford currently has a Mustang GT lease at $299/mo $0 down $0 drive off. Very tempting but I hate leases.

i smoke si's on the street, the torque gets them everytime, but they own me on the highway, they are geared for that and they dont shut down til over 135 i think. for the money you save you can upgrade the tc to be one of a kind, or you can be like all the si's here and just make a monthly payment on a car that is like all the others

Want a car that\'ll really kill and SI and still be cheaper, get a tC spec for $15,000 and you have $7,000 in mods left to kill an SI for the same price.

The SI wouldn\'t be a bad deal if it was around $18,000 but it\'s a rip off for $22,000.
