Forget teaching the kid a lesson......make a wise business decision. You will never be able to get 17-20k for your tC later on down the road. I don't know if this is your first car, but it won't be your last. Take the profit dump it into a newer, faster car, and then find the "rich" kid and smoke him. Forget about all the money and time you put into this tC. That is just the cost to play the game.

you know, all this talk about a good financial decision when in all actuality he would lose THOUSANDS on the deal....

If you go buy a new TC you need to pay tax, tag, title, financing and licensing fees, delivery fees, and if at a slick dealership, a whole lot more BS fees. Also any extras on the car, etc and even for a BONE STOCK TC it would run you about 18K out the door. Even if you had 16K IN CASH, a tc is $16,940.

If I were you, I would tell them 20k for the car because that's what it would cost you to get a new one. If they aren't willing to do that, then that's their problem.

Oh, and your Father has no right to interfere with your vehicle if you got it on your own. Period.

Oh big deal about the s/c not fitting the new 07. Especially when names like Dezod, ZPI, and Turbonetics come up. Seriously did we all buy a tC from Scion witht eh intention of modding it with everything from the dealer? Certainly not me.

You should keep you car but tell the boy you will help him make his '07 tC just as fast as yours. Maybe you can build a friendship from this. You keep your car, he gets a tC and you both pour in his families money into both of your tC's. ITS A WIN/WIN SITUATION. Become the boy's personal community tC consultant.

Now why on earth do you think this kids family is just going to start paying for parts onto the original posters car? just because he owns a tc and the kid wants one? that just doesn't make sense to me...

Wisest statement yet!

And I still don't get all this bull about the 05-06 being better than the 07. I just got mine and I am more than satisfied.

Yeah, have fun if you blow up your motor. You're screwed out of your warranty. Not everybody wants to shell out the money to get their motor rebuilt if they screw up when there's an option to get a warranted S/C from the dealer.

I won't be moding my car at all, so I'm sure I'll have fun and my motor will be fine.

ALSO, if you are serious about modding, you are gonna do so much crap to your car that the warranty is a mute point. Otherwise you're just foolin yourself. Have fun pretendin' though

sell it because its more like $20 in your pocket. Get the 07 and start over - thats in investment if you do it like that --- instead of it just being an expense. And no - unless you have an 06 - 16k is a few thousand over what u will get anywhere else.

ingdirect.com or emigrantdirect.com both have high interest rates (over 4%). You can put the money in the bank and make payments on it (if you can get a low interest rate). ...u will be making over $50/month interest.

Sorry topcat, that ^ wasn't directed at you-- you posted before I could finish mine!

I was just saying that some people may want more power for their tC w/o voiding their warranty. not everyone wants to take the chance to blow up their motor and not have it covered by warranty. I mean, someone can mod quite a bit of stuff on the car, still be considered a serious modder, and not void their warranty for the motor...that's all I'm saying..

...choices are a good thing.
