Default Stink coming from fan air

So its nice up here in NY and I've been running the fan on alot ( AC compressor not on) I have noticed recently that when running on fan...there is a ammonia / urine smell coming out of the vents. Its horrible!!! lol

Anyone have any ideas what might be causing this? Oddly enough the smell isnt apparent when the ac is on.

Call me aparanoid but i have had some beefs with the dealer and I wouldnt be supprised if the mechanic poured some pee pee down the HVAC air intake cowl

Anyone have any ideas what could be causing this stink and how to fix it?

That would not be cool. Did you happen to use the A/C the day before, then the next day turn the vent on?

If not..them i am really not sure. Any other dealers in your area?

Mine, when that happens, is more like the smell of snails or something but very similar to what youre talking about. When it happens I just turn that sucker off because it gets annoying. Its not always that way though. If yours is then that sucks and Id get a peepee professional on it ASAP!

the smell you are talking about is mildue, it happens a lot, the best a cheapest way to get rid of it is take lisal (cant spell) and spray in vent run the fan on with windows open no one in the car, it should clear it out, do it every couple months it should be fine,

You can also get Ozium, a scent remover used in hospitals, which also kills airborne bacteria.

A can should be available at most auto part stores for 3 bucks. It's a small can, but you don't need much.

Turn on your A/C to inside air, and spray a few times into the inlet just below the windsheild.

Run the A/C for a bit, then repeat, spraying in the inside vents under the dashboard.

Then roll down all your windows and run it on high.

You could try the same with the Lysol, I'm just scared of anything which actually lowers your immunity from exposure.

lol, the heat and jamaica bay is yer culprit i would assume

ever driven near laguardia? that small stretch near the water on the GCP stinks around this time of year. so it's possible since u park yer car at jfk, it accumulated all that crappy smell from jamaica bay.
