Hey guys, I have a 2007 TC with almost 15,000 miles on it. Long story short, I got a company car and I probably won't be driving the TC anymore. The only place I have to keep the car is in my driveway with only a car cover. My question is should I disconnect the battery terminal or leave it alone. Also should I park it with a full tank of gas or as little as possible? Any advice would be appreciated. It sucks to not have a heated garage!

 

how long is it going to stay off? if its a long long looonngggg time, put the car on jack stands, car cover and put the rims/tires inside somewhere and park it with as little gas as possible..

 

Fuel stabilizer would be a good thing to use also. I use it in my lawn mower when it's sitting during the winter.

 

Well I may drive it 2 times a month....IF that much. I can't really take the wheels off because I may need to move it once in a blue moon. Do you guys recommend the car cover that the dealer is selling for outdoor storage? trdsparks has them for about $165 and I was thinking of getting one to protect the paint. I also heard gas loses its "life" after about 2 weeks. IS this true? Thanks guys

Oh and for car covers, I'd say get a waterproof one too-- I keep my tC outside and what I do is put a soft car cover (with UV protection and all that), and cover that cover with a Tarp, or a Boat cover (because I couldn't find a 100% Water Proof cover for the tC and so I settled for a boat cover)-- Its rained pretty heavy here this past weekend and I can honestly say, when the sun came out and I pulled the covers off, my tC looked as clean as if it had been in a garage the whole time- only the bottom part of the rims were wet

 

if you drive it once or twice a month, that should be fine. my dad has three cars, and rotates through them to keep them going.

one worthwhile investment would be to get a solar powered charger for the car.

it is a small solar panel that plugs into the cigarette lighter and trickle charges the cars battery to keep the battery alive.
