Default tC accident/southside of chicago

So i was heading off to school and i was heading North bound on a street called Union on the south side of chicago. My light was at first red with a truck to the left of me waiting also for the light to turn color. When my light turned green, i waited a little and i accelerated a little, in my corner of my eyes i see a truck on the intersection run a red. I hurried up and braked. Luckily i braked in time only to leave my bumper scratched up instead of it being totaled. THe funny thing is, the guy tried to run away too... i hurried up and cut him off and stopped the truck. I took down his insurance and everything, he was making a delivery so i went ahead and went to the police station and filed a police report. My tC is all messed up in the front now. Im glad i braked in the nick of time, or my car would have been totally damaged. I am so blessed. But my license plate is totaled.

Could have been much worse. At this point, you're only out a bumper and license plate - neither of which you should have to pay for.

Wow that was close!

License plates are EASY to replace compared to you or
your tC!

Good job stopping him.

i just hope i completed the accident process the right way and their insurance progressive will pay for the damages, i dont think a new bumper would need to be replaced? possibly just repainted?

Sorry about the accident, but looks like it wasn't too bad. As for the bumper, my guess is that it's toast due to the gash in it. A little dent can be hammered out and repainted, but a gash like that should warrant the part to be replaced. Hypothetically, if they do just 'fill' the gash, it's never going to be the same and likely the paint on that section will age differently than the rest of the bumper and car. Good luck through the insurance process.

That sucks real bad. sorry. Hopefully you had a witness. I live in Ohio and if you drive away with just insurance info, and no witnesses, the other guy can try to say you did it and put a claim on you instead.. It happened to me. So I never got any money from her insurance company.

Man, YOU ARE SO LUCKY!
1-2 more sec of braking time he could have totaled your car
2-3 more sec of braking time he could have you killed

He should be charged of attempted murder!

Dude that sucks, but if you're slick about it you can get a whole body kit out of it, you may have to pay to get it painted though. I got rear ended in my old civic hatch and I ended up with a black widow kit in the end.
