Check out the other thread linked in the 5th post. The main reason a manual tC is faster than the auto is that it's geared lower. That's also why the auto gets better fuel economy than the manual. If they were geared the same and you weren't a world-class shifter then the race would be really close. With the lower final drive ratio of the manual it's no contest.
