Default tC Poll: Should it have a rear-window wiper?

We don't get too much rain here, but the first week I had my new tC, it rained like crazy.
I was kinda shocked that the tC didn't have a rear-window wiper!
It's got a huge window, and it would help a lot.

What do you guys/gals think?

I think the car looks really clean without a rear wiper. I had one on my old Mitsubishi Eclipse and I didn't like it. It definitely should be on option seeing how some people would like to have one.

it would be very useful to us (for some reason the rain sticks to the hatch window more then other cars) but i think the tc wouldnt look so clean with it.

try rain-x it works. but ya i think it does need one. i hate it when i get off of work at like 10 pm and its about 50 degrees outside and the windows are all fogged up from the outside. its takes the defroster like 15 min to get it clear. if we had a wiper it would be a few sec.

i think its absolutely idiotic not to have one. if theres dew/rain/light frost/etc on the window, instead of waiting 5 minutes or whatever to heat up the defrosting lines (which dont do a damn thing for rain anyway), its 1000 times easier to push a button and instantly be able to see. its unsafe (at least IMO) not to be able to see out of the back; and having to sit and wait is very frustrating. my old cars all had rear wipers, and i'm shocked that this sloping hatchback didnt come with one.

I voted "No". I've really never used a rear-window wiper, so it doesn't bother me a bit. I understand how you peeps who have lots of rain feel. That has gotta suck. But I think the tC would look really funny with this big ol' rear-wiper on the back. Try some Rain-X or similar product. Worst comes to worst, you could carry a Sqeegee (for dew/light frost, etc.) for the winter/rain season. I didn't think not having a rear-window wiper was that big of a deal. I was way off.

why does the XB have one when its back window is completely vertical? No rain or snow will stick to it. But our almost horizontal huge window doesn't have one? Makes no sense. The day I picked my car up at the dealer it was pouring rain and I complained about not having one. There should definitely be a wiper back there for us

A squeege woudlnt do us any good because once all the rain is gone...and your sitting in traffic...it just builds up again and you cant see out the back. Rain-x, tried it, works well until the hatch window gets dirty. Once its dirty the rain just sits again on the glass. Im not sure how you think it would look clean or how it would look goofy with one on the back. I think they atleast need to have it as an option. For those of us in the rainy states.

I use my defroster and it improves visibility in the rain for me.

I have never used a rear windshield wiper in any vehicle. You aren't constantly looking out the back, so it doesn't need to be perfect. I mainly look for headlights when it is raining and I can see that fine through the rain. As for the frost on the glass...I have a garage, so it doesn't bother me. I vote "No" because a rear wiper would screw up the smooth body lines of the tC.

I voted to have it as an option, when I first bought my tC a year ago, I thought it was such a dumb thing to not include on a sports hatch, because all the other cars had it. But the more and more I look at the back of the car, the lines have more of a luxury look and smoothness, especially after I tinted my windows, now I think that it would just screw with the looks. If it were an option then I could see what it looked like and then make a decision. By the way, the only time its helpful is in the snow, and the rear defrost works well enough that if you clean your car off, you can drive and the snow that hits the window will just melt. So yeah, you can survive without one.

I voted NO because it would look ugly and its just another thing that has to be replaced.

I voted yes. I've tried rain-x, and it can only go so far. Though I do loooooooove the cleaness of the tC, seeing how Chicago weather sucks, I'd rather take function over form.

GOD NO!

That would really break up the lines on the tC.... I have very little problem seeing out my rear window, and I live in Oregon!
