The alarm is essentially a plug-in option with immobilizer.
I asked my dealer about that and they said its just a regular separate keychain. The buttons are not on the key as it is portrayed on the website. Guess we'll find out soon enough.

Guess my dealer lied. Buttons are on the keys.

The TC comes with an alarm. The alarm goes off if someone opens the door. When you order the security package that adds a glass sensor and immobilizer .

As far as finding your car .

You would need a pretty powerful transmitter and then a nice yagi antenna to track it down. Really isnlt an option unless the theives are local.

You could install a gps in the car and a 2 way pager. The GPS can send location information to a remote location all the time or at a time interval specified by you. You can do the same with a cell phone .

One of the easiest things to do is if you have a family cell plan is to leave one phone in the car. hidden, ring off with auto answer enabled. Police can call your cell phone.
When a GSM phone is active it will give your location by cell ID and distance from the tower (within 500 meters). It can even tell you if you the speed at which you are moving toward or away from the tower. Now depending upon the beamwidth of the antennas and distance between cells this can still be a very big area but the car could be found rather easy. And if they are in motionit is even easier to track them with cell handoffs.

ohh das cool.., i was just wondering.. i wasn't gonna get the security, i have an 01 altima and 03 sentra with just the keyless entry but now my block has gotten ghetto and my sentra was broken into, the trunk only and they took useful items to me only such as my skool books.

with the security installed, is the key different ? or do you get an add-on to the key?

If you get the Scion Security addon the key remains the same.

It's called Lojack dood - someone steals your car, and I'm not sure if you activate it or just call the lojack folks. It's got some sort of location beacon (not sure if it's GPS or not) and the cops go out and scoop the thing back up. Works really good but I think it's about a grand. On the upside, your insurance will give you a BIG break if you've got something like that.

Stock, with no options. The TC has no alarm. Only keyless entry and the engine imobilizer.

If you open the door, nothing will happen. You need the $500 Scion security option to have a door open/shock/glass break sensor.

Which $500 is a waste for the factory alarm.

Yeah, you can add any accessory at a later date except the Side Air Bags which comes directly from Japan. I am thinking about doing the same with the fog lights as I don't think anyone can get at the present time.
