Default Tc or Truck?

Okay guys i have horrible issues with deciding on ____. lol So i'll see what you guys think.
Im looking into getting either a Tc or a Truck.
Now why i want a Tc is b/c they look great slammed, great gas mileage along with those looks, fairly cheap for stuff to slam it ect.
Now why i want a Truck is b/c they look great lifted to the sky with big ___ tires and can go anywhere, yet suck on the mileage and a lift and wheels and tires would run me like twice that of a tc.

So basically its a Tc i could lower and drive around with anywhere with a street (i love just cruising around) or get a truck i could lift and take almost anywhere literally but not have that cruising around ability.
Now im sure that confused you all lol but i want some inputs on what you all think bc its literally 50/50 for me.

Truck!!! I have a 2010 F150 that I love. You could also wait til the 2011 F150 comes out with the new engines which will actually get better MPG supposedly. A midsize truck wouldnt be bad either except most get very little more MPG then fullsize. You also dont need to lift the truck. Get a level kit to bring the front end level with the rear end and you can easilly fit some bigger tires and wheels over stock so you save money cause you dont have to buy a lip kit. Check out F150online.com or F150forum.com for pics and info. Plus you can get a new F150 anywhere from 5-9k less than msrp. You could easily get one in the 20k range if you like basics. But check out the forums i mentioned for deals people got as well.

It's a tough choice. We have a 2010 Titan and I love it. It's a welcome change to drive compared to the tC. Way more comfortable and like you said you can take it almost anywhere. But on the other hand, compared to the truck, the nimbleness of my tC adds to the fun factor.

Exactly. Scion = fun on the road all day long
Truck = fun offroad until im out of gas.

Right now im in a 97 grand cherokee thats getting 12mpg and i love not getting stuck in the snow and wherever else, yet i hate not being able to drive a lot without filling up.

Oh i didnt look at your age. If i was you go tC then i guess. When you are older and have money get a truck. For your age the tC is a good choice.

But if your broke how will you afford mods? I mean maybe look for an old frontier as those aren't bad or a tacoma if you want a truck. Not really sure on reliability of the colorado but i always liked the looks and test drove one in 06 and liked it.

Its pretty much down to a Ranger or a Tc. Lifted or lowered. The hardest choice in the world

Insurance on the tC from I understand is pretty high...Someone correct me if I'm wrong...Add the fact that your only 17 and that may really make affording the tC a little harder considering your only "banking 200-300" every 2 weeks...

I did consider that.
Monthly, a trucks gas plus insurance may equal out to a Tc's. but im not sure. But yes i have heard tc insurance is high. And ive had no wrecks or tickets or anything so my insurance is fairly low

Yeah, if insurance isn't a problem for you, deff a TC. Unless you have a ton of dirt roads for offroading, the tc is an awesome car. Decent MPG on the scion too.

Given your age & income, I would definitely think twice before purchasing a new vehicle. I say, save up what you can and get something used that's reliable (civic, corolla, etc) and beat on it for a few years. When you're out of college and secure a career, reward yourself with a new set of wheels

*edit* I also just thought of how badly the insurance company is going to rake you over the coals for being 17. Don't buy a new car.

You will definitely be screwed on insurance if you're 17, no way around it. I drove a beat to death 98 Taurus when I was your age back in 05-06 with the least coverage on everything and it was still over a grand a year (which was a lot of money for me at the time, AND I had no collision on it). My insurance randomly dropped a year or two ago unexplainably to only $600 on it, I guess your premium might drop once you reach 18 or 19 (not really sure on that..)

I bought a tC in January and now have to pay roughly $1600 a year for it, with decent coverage. I'm 21 now.

I guess my advice is don't bankrupt yourself that early to have a cool ride. If the numbers work for you, go for it. If not, find a beater to drive for the time being, and once you own something nice it makes driving it oh so much sweeter.

I went from driving nothing but trucks to buying my TC and while the TC is nice I miss having a truck every day. I drove a f150, S10, f250 gasser, f250 diesel, and a chevy 2500 diesel. If you want fun good gas mileage and practical buy a S10 the four banger is really good on gas just as good as the TC and you still have a bed for hauling stuff. Not to mention it's a lot easier to fix your self when it breaks. but if you don't mind a gas hog and a little more money nothing beats a full size ford

I would buy the new tC, gas prices are just going to get higher and higher now that BP wasted 1/3 of the worlds fossil fuels.

I think you mean Yaris, or was that IQ? Hybrid Civic maybe?

The tC is average on gas, nothing special. Buy it because it looks nice & is fun to drive above all else.
