the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reported that police listed street racing as a factor in 135 fatal crashes.

Large truck occupant deaths number about 4,542

Alcohol is responsible for 17,419 fatalities

Senior Citizens accounted for 5525 fatalities...

The fact is that out of 38,309 fatalities in 2002 only 135 were street racing accidents. Lets be realistic, thats .0035%. Again, while i don't approve of street racing there are much more dangerous things on the road than a kid in a "2900 steel and glass bullet."

I think people are over reacting...

Like they don't speed... if so your racing! Racing to get somewhere.

Why don't all of you who bash just walk... "MUCH SAFER" for me and others around... not to mention your hurting the environment.

I don't speed period. It just isn't worth the risk anymore.

all those people who have nothing better to ******* do than to flame on other people.... get the **** out. im sick of it. i've been in this forum for a long time. people come here to share and ask. everyone here knows the consequence of their own actions. who are you to tell anyone in here wat to do.

if you have a problem with street racers, then stay off the streets. danger is part of life, and if you can coup with it. then just kill yourself so you dunt have to.

stupid people never learn do they. woozzy did say he drove around to find a safe spot to race. you guys act as if he raced in the middle of downtown or in the parking lot of a busy mall. GO FIGURE ALL YOU ******* MORONS.

and dont even give me crap bout how you never did anything bad in your life. LIVE YOUR LIFE A LITTLE. wat are you? a priest or something??

no offense to anyone but those who do nothing but flame on people who want and get to have some fun in there lives

Your just fueling the fire man. Posts like that=2 more pages of flames. So in a way, your just making more flame posts. What you said has already been covered... numerous times infact.

I've had my run-ins with racing. First week I got my car some neanderthal in a Mazda 3 thought it would be nice to race me. We both took off at a light and I accelerated a little faster than usual just to see what he's got... But then I glanced at my odometer and saw the number 300 on it, then I glanced up and realized this is a dark, dangerous, cop-filled road, and I realized this is not the most intelligent thing to be doing. I promptly braked and let the Mazda 3 have his "win" only to later find out that he flamed my car in a Mazda 3 forum, saying he won by 10 carlengths or so. I figured it's better off having a clean driving record than to be racing. My insurance rate is high enough as it is, given my age.
And you're better off for it. I'm 22, and several of the tickets on my license that I got when I was 18 are STILL not of my record yet. I used drive... Poorly. 'Nuff said.

The tickets are NOT worth it. My insurance would be 70.00 a month (full coverage), but because of a few moments of sudden and violent retardation, it's around 170.00, each month.

And keep in mind: if you are 18, and driving ANY car, you WILL be pulled over and ticketed at some point, and probably more than once. You're much better off getting tickets you can't avoid without having to add them to the ones you can avoid.

By the way, stock v6 and v8 Mustangs are not only slow of the line, but slow in general. They have 'muscle,' which doesn't necessarily translate to 'quickness.' Saleen and Cobra versions are a different animal entirely, pun intended.
