I saw it, and note my bit about comparing the GT model to other cars in its class. Its supposed to be in a sports class, yet it'll get walked by cars like the Mustang GT, RX-8, Evo RS, maybe even cars like the SRT-4, and WRX. Talk about how fast the v6 is all you want, but I don't really see those at SCCA events or Auto-X either. Is it fast compared to a 16k tC? Sure. Is it fast compared to the rest of the cars in the 22-28k range? Doubt it. It's too slow to be a real power contender (and FWD), it's too big/heavy to be sporty, its too small to be practical. will have to wait for real-world results, and some of the early ones have been relatively positive, but since they're both going for 25k, you KNOW there's going to be GT (mustang) vs GT (eclipse) and I know already who's going to win that battle.
I understand what you’re saying, but I don’t think we're on the same page here. dmx said it would be slow because of how heavy it was, even with the V6. I pointed out that the Altima is very close in weight and HP and it is quite fast. He said it would be slow, I gave a counter point as to why it might not be. Period. Like I said, my whole point, is that we shouldn’t dismiss its performance because of its weight (in reference to the V6 model).

On a side note, I appologize for the , you kind of ticked me off with yours. lol

Mitsubishi is going to be going out of business soon, these new cars are last ditch efforts to save the dying company. Dodge will no longer support Mitsu, and theres another company, who was pouring in money and is now pulling out. My mom own a 98 Eclipse Spyder GS-T...it was a decent car until I got hit in it at 65...hehe...then all kinds of random ____ died on it. And most mitsu dealers I've been to half ___ the warranty work (the leaking convertible top), and at one point we couldn't open the passenger door because the A - tech did something and completely mangled (yes mangled) the entire insides of the door...all the metal was in a ball shape. And mitsu said it was my mom (a 58 year old woman ) who did it. Yes somehow they tried to say my mom took apart the door, screwed with the insides and put it back together.

I have nothing good to say about Mitsu..hehe

Default Yeah, the Eclipse is nice, but.....

Its a nice car no doubt, but I would have two concerns with Mitsubishi-
1.) Reliability- they are not even close to Toyota there
2.) Will they still be here in 2 or 3 years? I have serious doubts about Mitsubishi being a viable car company in the US given there small lineup and dismal sales.

You must work at a chitty dealership that doesn't sell a lot of cars. I traded in my 2004 xB on my tC. The xB had 16,000 miles on it, paint issues, and rims with curb rash. When I bought my xB, I put 0 down and when I went to trade in my xB that I only had under 1 year...I got more than KBB listed it at, even with the paint issues. I took no loss on the xB. But that was at a GOOD dealership, not a stealership. Which most Mitsubishi dealerships are going to try to squeeze you for every penny they have.

the trade in value they put on ur car is determined by how much they make on the selling car... if u get alot on ur trade they're gettin alot on u

that was a BEAUTIFUL design... the watered down production of it is everything but... i think its a neat car... but i have to say the eclipse went down hill after the last body change. major lack of performance and style. turned into (forgive me ladies) a chicks car. a soccer mom car. the ___ guy at my work was saying hes going to buy one cuz its so cute... EXACTLY

trade in my scion for a new eclipse? never (now a good condition 99 GSX with low miles... hmmmmmm)

Are you serious? I love the way the back looks. The car reminds me of a little spaceship (yes i am a bit of a space freak - a cool one ). You guys gotta see the car in real life. Much better looking than a picture.

I have to say I am a bit surprised by the mitsubishi bashing. I always thought they were a good brand. They are japanese afterall, and cant be that bad.

I love my tC, but I do have some little complaints like all the little cabin noises and the rough uncomfortable ride. Im from NYC, and the car takes such a beating driving over the city roads.

Just because they are Japanese in no way makes them a good car. I have been hearing reliablility issues with mistu products since the first day I heard of them building a car. The newer they get, the worse they get.

This is like saying that just because a car is american made it is a bad car. The issue is that we have the big 3 that keep anyone else from entering the market, and the big three are having issues.. so it has nothing to do with where the car is designed and built.

I guess I am the only mitsubishi fan here then. Mitsubishi, if you are reading this, I think you should award me a new eclipse gt for defending you guys here on scionlife (which is apparently pretty tough).

Check out some pics from road and track. The interior and exterior lights are beautiful.

HAHAHAH, always one problem with those mitsu's, I have owned two 1g DSM's first was a TSi and had electrical issues, the second one was a GSX and the differentials were all torn up, if you look up common issues those two are included among other things like CRANKWALK. lol, now your brakes will fail on your 06, the company is dying, they suck ___ and haven't made a decent car yet, matter of fact my Dad bought a Montero sport in 01, and the tranny started slipping after 22k miles, we got lemon law on that one though. Keep your Toyota, I don't care how fast a car it is, or how much it weighs, THEY SUCK, its PROVEN...

i dont know about the interior... the only thing that looks good are the gauges cluster. For paying that much money, they could have at least came up with a better interior design.

oh yeah, sucks for ppl that wants to get aftermarket deck

lol They really painted the kids into a corner with that wacky ___ head unit. Rockford Fosgate or not, 140 watts won't cut it for most people.

I used to own a 1995 3000GT before my tC. She was actually pretty solid but after about 100,000 miles virtually everything started to fall apart except the engine. I sang the transmission blues for about 2 years before I ultimately scrapped it for a tC.

As far as Mitsubishi's track record on sports cars and sport compacts go with the DSM's and the 3000GT's and Stealths, they haven't really build a reliable one yet. But the Eclipse isn't AWD so hey you never know.

Had a 1988 Mitsubishi Montero some years ago. Most unreliable vehicle I have owned in 29 years of driving. Most (not all, but certainly most) I've talked to that owned them feel the same way.

Drove it from SoCal to Oregon on vacation soon after buying it and the little 4 cyl. got 12 mpg on the highway and was not especially peppy. With the small tank, we had to stop every 125 miles to fill up.

It was built solidly enough, but it just didn't work well for any length of time and left us stranded or mortally wounded with difficult to diagnose problems too many times.

If you can actually find one with less than 100k miles on it, and regardless, it will still give you all the problems, plus might even crankwalk on you and the dealer wont even do anything about it. Mitsubishi's are by far one (if not the worst) car maker, and this is coming from a guy who owned a 93 GS and a 91 GST. I was in club DSM, *almost* eveyrones car broke every other week, though I had the worst luck. If it isnt the head blowing, it WILL be the ____ty transmission that these morons put in a car.
