I know! For real! I can't seem to get mine up to 127 unless i'm going downhill. It has the HP to do it, but it just doesn't seem to want to. I think it has a lot to do with the VVT-i. My HP ***** the bed at about 4500 rpm. my car will get to 115 with the quickness, but it takes long as hell to get to 127 from there.

i can't believe how far this thread has gotten. In our cars on our roads we shouldn't be arguing weather u can or can't do 127 or 160 in a GTI. Last time I checked, Your local drag strip and circuit are a little different then your local highway. Doing 127 on a busy highway is just plain stupid. Even if you argue that its mid-night and the highway is empty, Ever wonder what would happen if you were to hit a nasty pot hole doing 127 or "160" in a GTi?

AND if you want to get technical the 03-05 vr6 Jetta is electronically limited to 146mph. 2006 golf is limited to 118mph.

Last time i checked, I do what i want!

But come on now, look who you're talking to. Most people on here don't think about that or if they do, they don't care... LIKE ME. I think i can avoid a pot hole. It's pretty easy to see them. Its the place where the road is missing... And no i don't "race" in traffic

And yes local Hwys are different "THAN", not "THEN",(Sorry thats just one of my pet peeves) drag strips. But not everyone lives near a strip. And we still like to have fun, just because it's not your kinda fun doesn't mean you have to bash on it.

Glad you can go fast and can spell. When you are going fast in that kraut don't forget to aim for a tree. Also you can make anything go fast with money. Shoot you can make a 1985 Yugo go 10,000mph if you have money. That base model Yugo I bet you can get for free and then dump a few Gs into it and go fast.

Why not wait 14 years from now when the tC is old and depreciated like the VW and dump 1/4 of what you could have spent on ____________ and make it faster than __________.

SO move on

EDIT:
Here goes your whopping specs for a 97 GLX
0-60 mph 7.2 seconds.
1/4 Mile 15.6 seconds.
Top Speed 130 mph

Good for you.

I've not pushed my tC past 120mph

But I am more then happy with that, because my 91 Geo Storm felt like it was about to disintegrate after 95mph, but I still love that car!

the top speed i have gone is just 100 or 105, i dont plan on going any faster, its not worth it to risk wrecking a brand new car. but i got my gf's 98 acura cl to go 125 one time when i was going to florida, and right before we traded it in it wouldnt go over 99 lmao i tried soo hard and it wouldnt do it for some reason.

Oh come on.....you won't take my word that I hit 157?.....

Nah, I've done 125 and just let off....I knew it would stop at 127 so there's no point in going 2 more mph.

Hey guys I saw a tC hit 140mph on a 1/4 mile. The track time was 10.50 at 140mph. Here is the link to the video. watch the video and you will see a black tC hit 140 mph. I think we have our answer.
