Suspension with a twist = coilovers.
Which will perform better will be a "time will tell" deal. I would trust the TRD parts will out last any ricer brand coilovers.
Hope that helped.
Here is a pic of my FK coilovers and Eibach swaybars for my Focus:

You can see the rear sleeves right above the swaybars. A normal spring/damper set up doesn't have that part. Thats the difference.
Also, when the coilover kits come out for the tC, PLEASE stay away from the cheap ebay kits. R1, Aerospeed, and OBX all make coilovers and they are crap. You pay for what you get. It may sound "conformist"(is that a word, haha)but go with what is popular and has some type of history. FK, H&R, Tein, Billstein, KW, and even Ground Control. I'm hoping FK makes a set for the tC. I've been more than impressed with my Focus kit.

no you can't adjust the trd springs. they are just drop springs. coilovers have adjustable sleeves that will raise and lower the height of the vehicle. if you are looking for adjustability then go with coilovers. if you just want a drop then go with the trd springs. personally, i would wait a few months for aftermarket parts to start hitting the shelves. it's always nice to have more than one option.
