Take the RSX Type S for example. 210hp from a NA 2.0L I4 engine matched to one of the most smooth/precise shifting 6-speeds, and getting the MPG of an economy. Show me one other NA 4-banger with this much power and reliability. Lame Honda!

I could at least see this type of crap coming from people with muscle cars who think there is no replacement for displacement, but from Toyota owners? Oh yeah because a 2.4L is so much manlier than a 2.0L?
lets not even talk about the S2000.
Exactly. The S2000 engine is not much more efficient than the Type S engine though, hp/liter-wise.
Well, the AP1 put out 240hp from a 2.0L engine - awesome! The new ones are still 240hp, but the engine is now a 2.2, but only revs to 8000rpm instead of the old 9000rpm.

First thing to consider is that the rsx type-s starts at $23,670.00. You should be able to get more performance if you spend more money.

The peak torque of the rsx type-s is 143 @ 7,000 and peak hp is 210 !@ 7,800. That's the rpm range you need to get into to get those torque and hp numbers from a NA 2.0L engine. That is not that surprising to get those numbers from such an engine. What is surprising is to have it offered as stock from Honda.

Yes, it's 210 hp, but the peak torque is 143 @ 7,000 RPM. This suggests to me that if you want to feel the power from that engine, you are going to have to rev to the sky to do it and that's why they don't even think of offering an automatic transmission with that option. driveability would stink.

Peak hp and torque numbers alone don't tell the whole story without seeing the rpm's they have to attain to get them and really you need to see the whole range of the power band to get the clearest picture of how it performs.

If that's how you like to drive, then you certainly have that option with that car. It's great to have choices, but remember that most have compromises (depending on how you choose to look at it) that come with them.

Regards,

I agree with that for the most part, but there are definitely exceptions. I plan to buy the S/C instead of a T/C and I don’t care about my warranty. I'm protected, to an extent, with the Magnuson Moss Act, and beyond that I'll fix it myself or learn how (look forward to that, actually). I'm buying the TRD S/C for the same reason I'll buy a Toyota or Honda over just about anything else (as things are now), for the sake of reliability. I'm less likely to have problems out of a Toyo or Honda then I am out of a Ford or GM. I feel that I'm less likely to have problems out of the TRD S/C then I am from an aftermarket turbo kit. This is not a knock on the reliability of the turbo kits in development right now, I'm sure many of them will be problem free. I just feel more at ease with a TRD S/C, just like I feel more at ease with a Toyo or Honda. And for me, the power the S/C offers is enough. A complete exhaust system, and some fine tuning is about as far as I’ll go in terms of go fast mods. I also want to have a well balanced car. The other mods I plan to do are pretty light, TRD suspension package, a front and rear sway bar, and crossmember set, better tires, SS brake lines, better pads, better fluid, clutch, and shortshifter. Those mods are far better suited for a 200 – 250 hp (crank) engine than one with 300+, imo.

On a side note, I agree completely, the Honda bashing is ridiculous around here. For example, one thing I read a lot is "I don’t want that Honda ricer sound." Wtf is the Honda ricer sound? No other car sounds raspy when you add a raspy muffler to it?! For that matter, how the hell does someone even know its “rice” unless they've seen what it can do? If that "ricer Honda" handed them their ___, I wonder if they'd still consider it ricey? Bleh, I digress. That goes for any import car, really. Honda's just seem to get the worse treatment around here.

Euro lights are also known as altezza lights. Why are they known as altezza lights you ask? Because the Toyota Altezza or in America the Lexus is300 were one of the first vehicles to have said lights.

But whatever, this thread is getting off topic.

im just saying the civic scene exploded and used a common toyota part and the next thing you know their on everything under the sun. the euro lites were started in just like i said in europe. the altezza was meant to compete in the sport sedan market ova there.

anyway im looking to keep my warranty intact so im seriously looking at a supercharger for my tc. im pretty sure youll be able to tweak it the way you want. im also hearing that there will be various stage kits for the tc any else heard this???
