warming up your car
about 10-15 min to get the oil pressure below about 25PSI.
Yeah it is a long time to wait on a cold start but I just go to the drive way, turn on the car, and go back into the house to finish whatever I am doing.
Good thing I live on a hill where no one walks by haha. I am going to get a remote start.
I will invent a legal one for the stick. I swear it.

If you're going to drive a short distance, let the car warm up fully before taking off. There is nothing worse for the catalytic converter than to drive 5 miles while it's still cold. For longer trips, just take off once the RPM's drop back down near 1k or when you see the needle jump past the first mark on the gauge (around 100şF).

Where I live winters get down to -35F worst was -55F without wind chill. So in the winter I always take the time to walk outside and start up my car. I let her run an easy 15-20 minutes because that's how long at idle it can take for her to get warmed up to optimal temperature.
I would say in the summer time however you would be safe with letting your car just run for about 30 seconds before leaving your oil will be in a fine state and lubercation wont be as hard as when the oil is 75-80 degrees when compared to super cold winter temps.
i get in and then start it, put on my seatbelt, adjust the radio and then take it easy til its up to normal operating temp. i feel like modern cars are supposed to be driven easy rather than let idle for too long. but hey if someone else wants to warm up their car for 20mins that certainly aint bothering me.
