I agree with that entirely!
But in the case of the tC, the auto transmission doesnt perform (as you mentioned). The 6 speed auto transmissions available in super cars like the Lambo Murcielago, and Corvette Z06 are definitley super fast shifting, ultra well timed and precise transmissions.

But our dinky little $16k cars dont spring for that kind of engineering... so I rely on my shifting skills do get me from A to B as quickly as possible.
Ha, I rely on my auto to keep my left leg from going numb.

That reminds me of that Buffalo 66 movie where Vincent Gallo is yelling about Christina Ricci's 88 celica manual trans...

"What the hell is this? A shifter car? I dont drive this sh*t... I dont drive shifter cars! You know what I drive? Luxury cars. You know what that is? ITS A CAR THAT SHIFTS ITSELF!"

Ha, not completely. Small aircraft are still mostly in human hands. We have to control the fuel/air mixture, directional control, fuel managment, and take-off and land. The big guys are all computer though
lol ok mr. serious, it was a joke hahaha

"Now if you have an automatic...sell it. You are totally missing out on the coolest part of driving." - Jhonny O'connell (3 time Le Mans winner)

I couldn't agree more.

EDIT: You guys do know that the super cars in those links that use "automatic" trannies are basically a computer/hydraulically controlled manual right? They are not "automatics" like the one in our tC. They are very advance and very expensive. Our tC still has a traditional auto, which completely blows. When you try to replace the clutch/flywheel combination with a torque converter you lose a lot of performance.

Yeah I know, it was just an easy shot to tell everyone I'm a pilot. You know the joke: "How do you know there's a pilot in the room? He'll tell you"

Damn your good! Haha. but no. It actually wasnt on very loud. Or so I thought. I was behind the cop and then he pulled over super quick. Then he shot out behind me and pulled over and said, "when he can hear my music when i am behind him, its too loud."

Some real BS i say! hahahaha

Why do yall buy a tc and add mods to make it faster....when you could just buy a car a little more expensive with more power. Im assuming its because you enjoy making something out of nothing and take pride in making something more than it once was. So what is wrong with people such as myself who enjoy more of a challenge and want to make a automatic tC a bit faster aswell. Don't knock automatics...they may not be as EASY to make fast but some people don't like easy...some people like a challange.

I also love my automatic tC, why shift if you don't have to? I am a lazy lazy person and want to do as little as possible. Looks is better than speed to me, because looks don't kill.

I love my car too, sometimes i see other tCs that have a few mods and i just wanna be better than that. Is that wrong? But i don't have enough money yet to do anything because i'm very cheap. And i drive an auto too. Of course, i'd want to drive a fast car but i don't wanna be tempted then pulled over. But i'd rather have a really nice looking car though.

i love my tc. it's an automatic. the only 'performance' mods i'm thinking about doing is putting intake on it. other than that, i'm more into tinting, systems, and i was thinking about changing the guage cluster to blue.

comming back down was sooo much fun, we started sling shotting down the mountain and roughly 80-90mph.

once we hit the open high way the manual tc and i went at it, and i could accelerate alot faster than him, taking him at half a length, but most of the time we were even. we both hit around 125mph which is fun, but settle down to the speed limit after passing police officers that were parked on the shoulder hahahaha
Were you really faster, or was he unwilling to take his revs up to red-line before shifting?

Sometimes I would love to shift and have total control over my car, but sometimes when I am in Seattle stopped at a 45 degree angle with cars two feet behind my ****, I'm glad I have an auto. Sometimes you can't have everything, so just make the best of what you have now and don't let other's opinion stop you from your mods.

Holy crap, am I reading that right? 280 hp for $5400?? The $5400 includes both the turbo and the tranny? Is labor added to that as well? I may have to save less than I anticipated...

ZPI has some great upgrades for the money. I don't know how reliable your car will become after that, but your tC will at least be extremely fast before you throw a rod through the block. As far as a bette deal goes, you can always buy a used 240SX, put 10 grand into it, and have a VERY fast car for the same amount as a tC. So I guess that constitutes a better deal.
