Was What I Did Wrong?
I prolly would've waited and confronted them - all night if i had to - no intentions at first to knuckle up but yell at them and get their information...if I was in a rush I would've just took down their plates and called my insurance anyway (the story would've been changed but my word against his/her) basically either way their gonna pay.
I would have paid money to see you bust off their mirror. And the more i think about it, the more i think you shoulda busted both off to teach them a lesson and then left them a note telling them why. I am actually getting madder thinking about it!!

Now the problem will be their revenge. The see your car or one like it and key it up. They did it on accident (maybe), you did it on purpose. Granted they should have paid, but that's what laws are for.
What if the guy next to you wasn't the one who broke your mirror?
Most cars these days have similar dimensions, I highly doubt somebody broke your mirror and remained parked next to you.
More likely, somebody was walking through the parking lot and walked between the cars and broke your mirror.
I realize that doesn't explain the door ding, but again, you don't KNOW where that came from either, or even when.
Just my thoughts.

Side mirrors are around the same height on all vehicles. Obviously it differs between cars and trucks but for the most part, peoples mirrors line up.
There is no way that this guy hit your mirror, put it back up and then stayed in that spot. Walk around a parking lot and see how many "dinged" mirrors you see. Probably about 50% I would guess. You could have guessed right, but I'm afraid you didn't. Dick move IMO
I get to work at 6 and leave at 3 most if not all people park there cars later and leave later. There was a convention near by and that car was most likey there for it, and yes the people here in ATL are dumb enough to not move (that and there was no parking anywhere else)
I park next to a fence in a corner there would be no one, besides the driver of that car walking next to mine.
I know it may sound worse than it is but I am 90% positive it was them.

none the less... regardless of age (im sick of people using age as an excuse, even though i know you didnt), it wasn't the right thing to do. no matter how you look at it, or try to justify it, it wasn't right.

sorry, that was off topic and probably doesn't apply, but i humored myself typing it up. lol.
