Default What RPMS do you shift at and what is best for new engine?

I have been shifting around 3500. My friends told me I should be shifting at 2500. Am I hurting my new engine by shifting at 3500 sometimes 4000? It is hard to shift at 2500 because the powerband rises so fast. What is the optimal RPM to shift on a new engine?

The RPMs drop so fast that if you shift below 3000, the clutch doesn't grab. I tend to shift at 3500 because by the time you have to shift, it's around 3000 and the clutch seems to be grabbing nicely there. Still gotta get used ot it a bit more. Its quite a difference between the tC and my old Bimmer.

3500-4500 should be fine. you just don't want to floor it. if you get the urge to, then doing once or twice won't hurt the engine during the break in.
