First choice out the gate looking for a "new" car was a 2001 Honda Prelude SH. But then I heard about the tC...and eventually, the new versus used (even "certified") issue got to me... and now I have the tC. I really like my tC and smile when I see it all clean and think how cool it looks, but every time I see a Prelude, I get a little "what if...?" thought in my head.

Looked at TSX, wanted to pay cash and I didn't want to take out a loan to get one. It's a nice car, but I don't know if it is worth the money.
Looked at Mazda 3, dealer was a dick, wouldn't let me drive a stick, went to another dealer, they didn't have a stick. Pros were leather and HID's (if you can find one) Didn't like the center stack design, bad side impact results scared me off as well.
It's a nice car, but it just didn't feel right to me.
Also looked at 03-05 Camry's and Accords - figured it's worth the extra 4 grand to ger a brand new car.

Now I don't know what I was thinking. Camry's and Accords are nice cars, but I'll be driving them for the rest of my life once I have kids....

i would have loved to stretch another 10 or 15 grand and get an evo or s2000. realistically though, nothing else really jumps out at me besides an rsx, but that was a lot more pricy.

Great Post....

I'll tell you how close I was to buying my runner up, which was an 04 Celica w/ only 8k miles for $16.899. While waiting for finance to approve my paperwork for the Celica I took a walk outside and happen to see a BSP tC parked outside and feel in love. I told the saleperson I that changed my mind and that I wanted an tC, and 2 weeks later I got my BCP tC.

Celica.

It was my dream car since 2000.

And then the tC came out.

But I still was in love with the Celica.

Celica got dropped from the production runs.

I can still get it though...

Celica costs 18k for 140 hp vs 160 for 16k.. Oh gosh, it hurts...

Slowly the tC just made more sense. The more I saw it the more I liked it and soon I was in love with it..

Sigh.. I miss loving the Celica.. it was just too expensive and underpowered.

I was about to buy an srt-4. but dodge suddenly dropped the 7/70 powertrain warranty 3 days before I was ready to purchase the car. I've had dodge cars before and I knew the only way I'd get through a good 5 years or so w/ it would be if they had an extended warranty. The 3/36 powertrain didn't cut it, and I figured there had to be a reason why it was the only dodge vehicle to suddenly drop the extended powertrain... Fast car, but I'd rather have something that looks much nicer and is a heck of a lot more reliable.

I got the tC but my other choices were
2. Acura RSX Type S
3. Hyundai Tiburon Gt V6
4. Chevrolet Cobalt SS
5. Dodge Neon SRT-4
Sometimes I wish I had all five.

before the tC, i always loved the h/b civic Si, but i wasnt sure about the whole 2 door thing so i was thinkin about...n please dont laugh the mitsu lancer RallyArt, i liked the hp n tq n it had 4 doors...n oh yeah also a carolla XRS, you kno the 180 hp one.

but iam glad i got the tC, way better then a mitsu RallyArt. i love my tC even if its a 2 door hahaha, but seriously there is a lot of hip and leg room in the back. n also i did about 3 months of research on the tC before gettin it. n i havent regret it at all....i love my tC, one sexy car

Edit: Sorry to write a book, but...
I learned about the tC in like March or April of last year, and followed it eagerly up to the launch and well afterward. My interest in the car waxed and waned as I would fall in love with another car for a week or two, but I inevitably kept coming back to the tC, even though I couldn't afford one. I made trips by the dealership a few times a month to check out their inventory of tC's and over time I selected in my mind the options and colors I liked, and made friends with one of the Scion reps who eventually became the manager.

Lucky for me December rolled around and I was in a car accident in my crummy old Escort while unfortunately on a trip out of town to my grandmother's funeral, but my car was totalled so I was able to finally get a tC. I chose the BSP over the Indigo Ink because even though blue is my favorite color I thought I'd probably get tired of it after awhile and I didn't really like the purple color it turned in low-light. I wish I couldn've gotten the Nautical Blue but eh.

In all my trips to the Toyota dealer I got to test drive the Celica a few times but I could never really decide if I liked the look of it or not, so to answer your question, the Celica, LOL.

P.S.^^^ I liked the Ralliart too for a couple of weeks, but was attracted back to the tC because of the price.
