I'm averaging 42mpg using some common sense techniques along with limited hypermiling *not driving below the speed limit*. I've seen up to 52mpg, but that's using more extreme hypermiling.

Its simple math... Let the amber light glow on your gas gauge and let it reach the lowest it can get and when it does get a full tank it usually goes up to 13 gal. Reset your tripodometer or whatever it is to 0. start driving until your gauge hits almost empty again. Check your Tripodometer. Usually its going to be 317.00 +/- . While Getting a new full tank devide the tripodometer record over how many gallons you consumed. so its
317 miles / 13 gal = 24m/g something.

we still avg about 27-28 on premium; that's combining some 75mph on the hiway mixed with some stop/go traffic jams , plus running thru boost for those all important on-ramp blasts ( or back road runs if it's my day to have custody of the TC ). Overall, we're pretty happy that we can pull upper 20's while still driving the car for fun...

Just filled her up for the first time. 259 on the odo minus the six miles it had when I drove out the lot. 253M / 12.5G = 20.24 All were "city" stop and go miles

Thats not a very accurate way of doing it. You are leaving it to guesswork. Read a few pages back.

You will see your gas mileage increase as the car breaks in. My mileage improved till I got to about 5k.

It definitely goes up during break-in. I get 27-29 mpg mostly highway, mostly warm weather. During break-in it was 23-26. My last car (2002 Ford Focus SE 2.0 SOHC auto) got 25-28 but had 50 less HP! For the type of car it is, the tC has good mileage I think.

I took a trip from Washington DC to Minneapolis and I averaged approx. 34 Miles per gallon at 70 to 75 miles per hour with an Injen CAI and HKS exhaust! it only cost 90 dollars in gas too!

im wondering if i got this correctly:

i got 22something mpg when I:

went from full to reserve and while i was at the pump, had about 9domething gallons.
then i got the difference from the last reading which was 1219mi to 14** something miles (iforgot) :D then divided it with the 9something gallons

then i got 22something mpg :D

i live in rather hilly area and has frequent stops .

I usually get around 25 mpg. I've once been able to hit 442 miles (~32 mpg) on 1 tank! Don't ask, I don't know how I got it. haha

My problem is my MPG is super low.. I live very close to work and hardly drive my car very far ever, but my gas milage sucks. I dont have my most current numbers but right now I have 70 miles on the tank, and the gauge is at half. Frickin crazy..

I've got the same problem, too.

Lately my gas mileage has also sucked. Before, I could get about 325 miles on a full tank with just city driving. Now, I'm almost at empty and I've only got 215 miles with the light on (with mainly city driving).

Strange. Maybe it's turning on the heat and defroster so much since it's colder out. Meh. :-/

yeah, it has to do with the winter season.
damn cold air.
you will gain your mpg back when spring hits.
anyways, are there any products you could put into your gas tank to improve your mpg?
i remember this one guy telling me to buy this thing at autozone or where ever and before you put in gas, put that whole bottle in and it improves your mpg dramatically.
anyone have any idea of products like these?
found this on the web, but it seems too good to be true

Yeah my gas mileage sucks too, i thought it was the my lightweight crank pulley or exhaust, Then again i did put those on during winter. Hopefully the cold is why my gas mileage is low?

right now ive been getting 24.2 mpg averaged out on 5 tanks of gas that ive filled up since i bought the car.... i only have 1700 miles on the car too and its been cold the whole time ive owned it so im guessing it will get better with the warm weather

here is the detailed crack down

1st Full Tank - $33.88

75% City /25% highway
12.55 gallons / 295 miles = 23.5 mpg / 8.7 mp$1

2nd Full Tank - $35.91

65% Highway 35% city
12.47 gallons / 334 miles = 26.7 mpg / 9.3 mp$1

3rd Full Tank - $36.39

car on with heat full blast just sitting ideling 1.5hr+
( sunroof left open and rained out over night... oops lol )
50% city 50% hwy
12.05 gallons / 273 miles = 22.6 mpg / 7.5 mp$1

4th Full Tank - $38.06

40% city 60% hwy
12.32 gallons / 298 miles = 24.2 / $7.8 mp$1

5th Full Tank - $40.50

40% city 60% hwy
13.06 gallons / 319.4 miles = 24.4 / 7.9 mp$
