It's pretty cool watching the trip ODO pass 140 miles before I even burn up a quarter tank, and watching it hit 250 before half a tank is gone on the fuel level gauge. I'm gonna push to see if I can get a 500+mile tank. Should be easy. BTW, I'm finding that I don't really even have to go *that* slow. I'm just keeping up with traffic instead of zooming around everyone. Takes a couple more minutes to complete my commute, but for 37MPG, it's worth it...

Bad thing is, my right foot is starting to hate me. Like it's telling me, "lemmie cut loose, man!!"
i wish i had that control.... each time my brain says "4.20 for premium is too high, so slow down..."; i see an empty ramp with no traffic, and find myself mindlessly running thru the gears. Wonder if the smile on my face will help fill the wife's tank when i bring her car back...
Avg so far this late spring; 24 mpg...

Over 2 years passed since i had my tC. I kept all my receipts and record them. combined all the gallons and calculated my average with my mileage, and I came up with 27mpg.
I feel you guys on the whole heavy foot thing. Every time I fill up for gas I constantly say in my head to become a feather foot... then I leave the gas station and I fail at the feather foot thing. lol

Just tried my hand at beginner's hypermiling. I normally get ~280 miles before I fill up. 300 or so if I wait until the fuel light comes on. So I normally average around 23-25mpg.
This last tank, I started shifting early (1600-2000 rpms, depending on gear) and accelerating really slow. I tried a lot of coasting, and a little pulse and glide at the end of the tank.
So this tank I got 398 miles before I filled up. Still had approx 1/8th left according to the gauge. I put 11.67 gallons in, for a total of ~34MPG. That's a 10MPG increase, by just adjusting driving habits. Speed limit on interstate varies from 55-60, and I used to do 80. Now I do the speed limit or a tad above.
This is my daily commute, one way (not exact start/end addresses, but accurate within about 200 yards.:
Google Maps w/ Waypoints
I was quite surprised - and happy! That's about $12/fillup I am saving, essentially!

I know my city mileage is 24 and the best highway mileage I have gotten is 34. However I feel that could be higher as that test run was incomplete and I had to estimate. So far going from the middle of Montgomery County MD to University of Maryland at College Park to DC then home I am at 220miles with half a tank.
Thing is after that half mark that needle goes down a lot faster?

i've been slowing down alot myself lately. i've always gotten around 27mpg, and my last few tanks have been over 30. unfortunately, i'm stuck in stop and go traffic at least once or twice per tank.

24-25 with my 5-spd 08 (18's)
28-29 with my sisters auto 08
25-26 with my 5-spd 05
I don't plan on getting anything over 17 mpg after the turbo goes on.

Ok for driving good for the whole week... My last MPG got from 24 MPG to 31 MPG... What I did? I drove the speed limit never passed 70. In the city I tried not to stop hard and go fast. With gas at 4.00 I might stick to doing this.
i have an 08. and i a m currently getting 28.5 mpg. i check my mpg's every time i fill up and scince getting my trd filter and trd exhaust it has gone from 26.5 to 28.5 mpg. and no i have not changed my driving style . well thats not true i love to hear the exhaust note.
