Default Wheel Bearing Replacement

My wife's 06 TC needs its wheel bearing to be replaced really bad. The car has 76,000 miles and it humms like crazy. Besides that its killing the gas mileage of the car. I was wondering if anyone here has had thiers replaced and at what mileage. i'm hoping to get this done myself by next week. Any help or info will be very much appreciated.

Mine went out a 19K, I've also seen some others around here that needed new bearings.

Wow I hope the ones on my tc dont go out. Im at 24k. Did you get it done at the dealership... um I mean stealership? I know firestone was quoting my wife 700 bux for the whole job Ive done multiple swaps and have worked on Hondas. A 12 pack and a lots of patience and ill be able to do it, but I have never worked on a Scion yet. Oh and My wifes TC is bone stock, Im trying to talk her into dropping it while im at it.

What are the sounds associated with a bad wheel bearing? My left front wheel makes a whirring sound at all speeds, it gets faster as the car goes faster.

I know tires having staggered thread wear patterns make the same humming/drone noise.

Default Wheel bearing replaced at 78,000

I replaced my front driver side wheel bearing at 78,000 miles easy job 50 bucks for new bearing and another 20 to get the old one pressed out and the new one put in the dealer will tell you that you have to replace the whole hub assembly which is around 300 bucks plus like 300 to get it installed this is not true by the way you'll want to pay the extra few bucks for a new snap ring that holds the bearing in old one is tuff to get out with out hurting it hope this helps......
