who ever has an 07 scion tc 5spd get abck to me
i have an 07 5 speed and no it does not "die out" or bounce off of the rev limiter... well, havent tried to bounce it off yet... but i did try to shift it hard and didnt die.
clarify what u mean by "die out".
clarify what u mean by "die out".
All cars with a rev limiter bounce off the rev limiter.. that is the purpose of it. Are you talking about if you try to rev up too high before shifting? Or is it cutting out lower than redline? You really need to explain the issue before you will get a good answer
no what i mean is that my 07 scion tc doesn't bounce it hits the rev limiter and stays there instead i\of bounce back. and when it hits it, it feels like it dies out. my old tc wouldn't do that. so my question is, is that a new feature on the 07 or is it a ecu problem?
This still is unclear. It hit the rev limit and stays there?? Then how do you know it hit the limit? And you will need to explain "die out". The rev limiter will cause it to temporarilly stall.. dropping rpm, then picking back up, and so on.
this question goes to --Final_Wrath-- you say your car has never hit the rev limiter. now is that cause you have never took it there or cause its just never hit it or what not. please be specific.
what i mean is that mine doesn't drop when it hits the rev limiter. lets say the rev limiter is 6700 well instead of dropping from 6700 and going back up and so on, well it never drops it hits the 6700 mark and stays there. and as soon as it hits it. the car sort of jerks foward as if it were to loose power. and when i shift hard with out letting go of the gas but clutching it squeeks the tires but dies out for a split second then picks back up as if it were to have a rev limiter.

ya i havean 07 and had tesame problem its like you hit a brickwall at 6,200 rpm's there is nothing you can do to fix it its not a problem just shift earlier i make my move around 5.8k and it seems to drift up the rest of the way youll love it after u get used to it.
there's probably a fuel cut off for a rev limiter, and as such you experience very strong engine braking, which is why you feel it "cuts out"
Also, it looks like your powershifting... you need to let off the throttle when you clutch in, not keep on it...
Bouncing off the limiter and powershifting... I hope no one ever buys your tC second hand
There's no need to be bouncing off the limiter anyway... there's no additional power up there. Shift a little earlier if you're going WOT.

as far as 06 tc living a 1/4 mile at a time that won't help me
as far as george_da_2nd 20/M that really don't help me much it will resolve me for now but i want to boost it so when i deside to boost it, that might cause a bit of a problem for me. and my old one would never do that so thats what makes me wounder if its a ecu problem.

my gf has a 07 5 spd i often drive. i have noticed it is very strange for a manual.
first, i have taken it to past 6500, so whomever said 6200 is the limit looks like you got a lemon.
second, if you shift hard, it does weird things. if you grab a gear hard from redline, you get a little chirp, then, it seems as if the engine dies for a second..........then goes. it feels almost like a bog. this is most prevalent going into 2nd, 3rd isnt as bad. i wasnt sure if this was normal or not.

This concerns me a little. I think this proves the point of buying a used tc. The 07 is how old and your trying to play superbounce ball with the rev limiter?? wtf?
I can see it now.... "Mr service guy, I am unsure why my engine blew up with only 187 miles on it. ?"

no toyota programed it that way they had people bouncing it off the revlimiter and wiping out the valve train. the springs are the weak poitn in this engien if you boost it i reccomend looking into beafin up your heads and valves and springs. it shuldent cause a problem with boostin it ive seen a few tC that have been turboed aslong as your good at shifting and know your cars limitations than you should have no problems.
paul34 not really power shifting ive only done that once or twice but what i mean is it doesn't bounce it just stays at the redline. not like other and most cars.
so what your saying george the 2nd? that toyota programmed there ecu so that it wouldn't bounce and stay at the redline?
