who ever has an 07 scion tc 5spd get abck to me
wow.... just wow.
i think his old tC told his new tC how he killed it and his new one is just protecting itself and trying to save itself from the guy.
I know what will fix it all. sell the tC and get a nice bicycle. im sure the new owner of the tC wont ever have a problem with it.

For people whose relatives have "worked on cars thier whole lives", friends who have "worked on cars thier whole life" and someone who is talking about ecu swaps, raising redline for boost (apparently a lot of missed concepts there), etc, it sure seems like a TON of technical knowledge is missing besides the communication issues
I am going to be helpful one more time.. and spell it all out:
1) There is a fuel cutoff/limiter on all year models
2) This is not an "issue"
3) You do not need to raise redline for boost
4) Raising redline means work on the internals as well.. you dont just go remove the limiter and call it good. There are considerations with head/cam/valve design as well as ensuring the engine can handle the extra rpm
5) Limiters are ther for a reason (this should be obvious)
6) English/Comp class is your friend (crack is your enemy).
7) Communication skills are probably THE most important skill in todays world, especially the working world
8 ) Asking questions, then only listening to those who also communicate poorly and rejecting all things you dont want to hear is not asking questions. It is begging for reassurance.

I haven't read through this stupid thread since my last post on page two, but I came in and read this:
Who in the world thought of this? I mean, eliminating the fuel cut-off would keep you out of some dangerous territory in running lean, but then you're likely to destroy your internals when you rev it to 8k rpms.
Engifineer, the rev limiter is enforced by fuel cut-off, correct?

Poor guy seems to be under the impression that there is a rev limiter-limiter. Perhaps the rev limiter limiter cuts fuel to make the rev limiter's job a bit easier. If the rev limiter-limiter limited the revs first, then the rev limiter wouldn't have any revs to limit.
Here's a hint: THE FUEL CUTOFF YOU ARE EXPERIENCING IS THE REV LIMITER. It has nothing to do with shifting hard other than the fact that you still had the clutch disengaged when you started flooring the gas, therefore hitting the REV LIMITER which LIMITS REVS by CUTTING FUEL.
Also: Your tC did NOT have an lsd. Stop saying you are sure it did, because you cannot be sure of that. IT'S NOT TRUE.
I understand that you're not going to accept any of this because you've already been told this and have failed to understand it yet. You are outnumbered by, well...a lot.
This is the kind of thing that makes me never want to go out of the house again. I'm so frightened that people like this exist.

Ok, well I have an 07 5spd, and I understand where carlos is coming from. I mean, when I step on the gas, my tires start spinning, but there isn't a "fuel cut-on" on this car, at least on the 05 there wasn't. Anyone know how I can remove this?
