Default Blown Strut Help

Did a lot of searching just wanting extra insight for MY experience if possible thanks.
Well... Here's my problem.

I was driving yesterday and all of the sudden I heard a loud violent thumping/clanking noise from under the passenger foot well. Well after doing some driving around the neighborhood and such we figured out that it only does it when that wheel goes over a bump or anything and we didn't see anything hanging or loose really. It just rides kinda rough over bumps on the front passenger side and is loud. Still turns, drives, handles fine.

I've been on S-techs for about 25,000 miles or so and have only auto-x'd once.

think its the strut? I heard something about a bolt on the struts getting loose and just needing tightening. or think its something else?

also, I'm wondering what I should do about fixing it.

Well I got some time to check it out and thank god, it was just that top nut. Sure enough it was loose and after I torqued it back down the noise went away and everything went back to normal.

Thank god I got on here and researched it before I dropped 500 on some new struts.

Although, it WAS a good excuse for some upgrades.
