Brake rotor resurfacing.
Hello everyone. It's time for me to finally get to my brake change and I'm wondering if anyone has ever tried this product (or no something similiar)? I've already measured the thickness of my rotors and they are still very meaty so I don't find a reason to get new ones.

I really don't want to pull off my rotors and take them to a brake shop to get resurfaced. Honesly in the past I've just gotten newer rotors (rotors are cheap) but there's plenty of bite left in them.
On a side note I'm happy to report that I got over 84,000miles on the stock pads and rotors for my 05 tC. It just amazes me how some people go through like tires/pads/rotors every 20,000 miles! Damn that's like sports car territory!!!

if you're replacing the pads it is hardly anymore work to remove the rotors as well. and resurfacing is CHHHHEEEEAAAp. like 20 bucks for all 4 rotors.

Very interesting website, I've done the brake lathe machine at my grandfather's shop but this new technology of using the sand paper that is glued to the old brake pad... gotta see if that works out well

ehhh, just buy new rotors. I'm a full time mercedes-benz tech and we never resurface rotors. that old school ____. rotors are so cheap now it's better to just get new ones.
when you start cutting rotors you lose mass and now the rotor isn't going to handle the heat as well. it's probably miniscule, but for piece of mind, id say go with new rotors

Furthermore, if you're going to resurface them, do it the right way. This method seems half a$$ed to me...
Update. Sort of.
I've called a local Toyota dealership and asked for a quote for all 4 rotors.
WOW these things are made of gold.

Stealership told me that they seem especially high and for me to just get them resurfaced. I had no idea they were this much. At this price I'm going to go aftermarket.

I already have Axxis Ultimates and that's just a lil' too much for my tC. Saving money for the other rides first...

i ordered the stoptech kit with the drilled rotors, upgraded pads and stainless lines. it included motul fluid. i know its kinda pricy, but gee whiz the thing stops better than any car i have ever had. of course i have toyo t1r's on some motegi traklite (1.0's) so the rubber bites darn good too. i took it up on a lonely interstate one weeknight after install and just about shot myself out the windshield i stopped so fast. the seatbelt check was harsh to say the least! if you can scrounge for the kit, its super ez to install and the results are awesome. i am pretty sure that the bbk's that are out there are overkill and will hurt your acceleration more noticeably than improving your stopping distances....

Because the weight of the rotor is evenly dispersed through its radius, BBK's do not have THAT big of a negative effect on acceleration. Weight actually is the smallest factor in rotational inertia... It's the radius of that weight (mass, actually) that makes all the difference. And that's why wheels that are larger than needed to clear the brakes, are stupid, since almost all of a wheel's weight is in the rim.

if the rotors are still in spec. then i would just cut them. theres not poing in paying for new rotors if your old ones are still good. when we do brake jobs at work its about $190 for the front and it includes labor, pads, and resurfacing the rotors. we ALWAYS cut the rotors when when we do a brake job,that way it will tru the rotor just incase its warped or groved.
but on my own cars, i just leave them alone unless they need to be cut.
its true that by cutting the rotors, it will cause them to heat up faster but unless your REALLY hard on the brakes, your'll never notice the difference.

I got some AXXIS Ultimates pads a while back for a decent price. I was just going to stay stock as this is my daily driver without a lot of flash or frills. My mistake was assuming that the tC's OEM stock pads were going to be inexpensive.
I should know better. I own 3 Money Pits along with this tC... I just didn't think they'd charge me that much for OEM rotors. Hell even on the parts for all my other projects (even the parts that have been discontinued) are so much cheaper than this.
Again I do have to admit that I got a lot of braking out of them. They're just barely starting to squeak now (90,000miles).
