Default Installation costs for coilovers

Hey i was wondering if anyone could give me some input on how much it cost them to get coilovers installed on their car. I just got Tein SS-P's a week ago and have been looking around for someone to install them for a decent price, otherwise i would justtry and do it myself. I found a guy who said he could do them ( a friend of a friend) anyway he says its gonna cost me $650 for him to install them!!! i dont think theirs a huge "S" on my forehead but that sounds kind of outrageous if u ask me. I dont know how much some shops are charging to install them, but for that much i'll GLADLY install them myself lol.

So again, Just wondering what some of you paid to get yours installed if you dont mind sharing. Thanks in advance.

Honestly, just install them yourself. It's not that complicated from what I've read, but it takes time the first time you do them. I've been reading on here about people paying $200+ to do a set of springs and at that price, it's makes more sense to install yourself.

Just find a tutorial on here, a couple tools, friend, and a case of beer (hopefully your friend is 21 lol) and have fun.

I wish I could do my Tein Basics when I get them, but when your parent has paid for your car in full, you don't really have a say in what you do. So i'll be paying for installation too.

$650 is a rip off. i asked around before about getting my springs installed and was quoted $150-$200. like the other people suggested, i would say try and install them yourself. you will learn a lot more about your car anyways if you do it yourself. putting in the coilover set should be easier than when i put in my springs because the coilovers are basically 1 assembly whereas mine was 2 (springs and shocks).

true it did take a while the first time, but it was worth it knowing that you can do work on your own car. i just followed the tutorials found here on scionlife and yoursciontc.com

You don't need a spring compressor when installing coilovers. Just remove the shocks/struts and the springs as one assembly. Coilovers should be a little easier to install than just springs.

That's what I was thinking. To me, the most intimidating part of the spring install is using the compressor and doing that whole thing. This is a straight replacement of the entire spring/shock unit, so it'll be easy. Just make sure you have the right tools and patience and you can surely tackle this on your own.

Well you can do front at the same time then rear at the same time, if that's what you mean. That'll only require two.

Default Cost to install coilovers

The most outrageous quote ever. $950 , over 9 hours to install coilovers hahahahahahah. FIRESTONE SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! JOG ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I found out that most places will not touch after market parts if you bring them to be installed. However, I found that MIDAS near me does. They charged me $360 with 6 months of alignments. It took about 3 hours to have done. I have done all of my other mods and figured that it was time to kick back and drink a few while I watch someone else sweat.

Call me a Super Street Slacker.

I did them myself with two jack stands... should be quicker with four. I even called toyota and they only said it would be around 500.... But I did need a spring compressor and I got one of those from napa. I rented it for 50 bucks and when you return it you get 25 back.

Its pretty simple once u get in there, since its ur first time it may seem a bit daunting but its really not. Just make sure u have a good strong breaker bar... not a piece of pvc or smtg.lol
