I wanted to know how long stock shocks would last if I were to get the Hotchkis lowering spings for my tC....it is only a 1.5" drop? Any thoughts welcomed!
i've had my hotchkis on my stock shocks for a little over a half a year, and i'm still running fine. i'm probably going to be switching shocks soon, but yeah, it should last you a decent amount of time.
you bumped it 4 minutes after posting....
you should be fine for at least 20k miles on that drop.. depending on how messed up the roads are where you live.
i've seen some guys on here go over 40-50k on stock shocks and lowering springs.

40-50k miles is what i am wanting to hear...the roads in seattle are mostly like 8/10 but the street I live on is a 2/10. I am gonna get the hotchkis springs i believe, hopefully itll add to the style of the car a little bit.
I have 90k on eibach springs, stock shocks. and I live in New England and I work on construction sites (and I may or may not have cut the eibachs to the hight I wanted)
But it all depends on the condition and miles on the stock shocks before you lowered it. I had no problems with mine however I am getting coilovers in the spring

My girlfriend had Hotchkis springs on her TC for ~20k miles before she decided she was sick of having to go over speedbumps sideways. When I took the stock shocks off they were perfectly fine...i'd say 95% as strong as brand new...or in other words - shocks with 20k miles on them.
Anyway, I'm working on my 50 posts so I could sell the stuff. I have the springs and shocks that I will sell for a good price. PM me if interested.

im planning to do the samething soon as i get my tc. except i want the trd springs on stock struts. how long do you think trds with stock strut can really last? or how much did it cost you guys to install and alignment?
Stock shocks with s-tech would not last as long. I got at max 20-30K on them because the roads over here are really smooth.
TRD should last pretty much the entire life of the original shocks. I maybe be over exaggerating on the entire life but trd drop is about 1.25" all around where as the s-tech is a little over 2.3".

tc are low to being with (coming from a corolla after dropping on s-tech). To me s-tech are more for show. Handling with s-tech was ok but it bounce a lot. If I could change with what springs I got for the corolla, instead of s-tech I would of went with H&R springs. I got TRD for the tc because I felt that the TRD won't compromise the ride quality and hey improve handling.
There are a few owners here that has 18s and 19s on trds. To me it looks like a perfect drop for those size rims. There was one ride with H&R springs that I liked. It was a long time ago when I saw it on here tho.
