Default Lowering springs with stock shocks

Im not sure if this has been posted before or not, I searched and couldn't find it.
Anyway, I've heard many different opinions on this, and want to know some answers from people who have done the same. Is it bad to lower a tc with trd lowering springs and leave the stock shocks in? I don't want to pay for shocks as well and I've heard it will blow out the stock shocks and make it ride horrible. Anyone done this?

Of course it's been discussed. But I believe you that you couldn't find anything on it. Some searching on a broad topic isn't easy. Anyways, don't read too much into man. Your totally fine. You're struts will be fine. They'll blow when they blow regardless. The springs might help them blow a bit quicker, but not that much quicker. You'll be alright. Plus, TRD is TRD, so they are meant for this car, and they are very conservative on the suspension. Tein S-Techs are just about the only springs that will take life off of your struts, and even that is only a few miles. TRD won't effect them. People say a lot of stuff about it, but they're just being like you, worried that they'll have to spend money again to fix something and will damage something. This isn't one of those cases.

@pbullis... I have a '10 tC lowered on Tein S-tech springs on the stock shocks. All I can say is WOW!!! The car is a completely different beast compared to stock, she handles a lot better, the ride is a little stiffer (if you like feeling what the road is saying...) and like criminal's signature... WHEEL GAP IS BAD FOR YOUR HEALTH!!! Lol

When I get home this afternoon ill upload some of the pics I took from the swap... rather easy but I did it with some serious "back yard" methods ahahah

HA! When it comes to compressing springs, oh boy have I used some crazy azz shizz my man. Haha! Good times for sure. There were times where I had to change out my right rear 5 times in one day, with no spring compressor, and this is with like 400 to 650lb spring rates, so they ain't no joke. Haha. Insane.

Thanks for the advice guys! I just didn't want to spend the money on shocks right now and wanted to make sure I wasn't going to damage the car.

Oh nice man. I'm really surprised those had enough clamping power to pull those together. Nice touch none the less.

Have same question, but my tC have 96k miles on it, should I replace both shocks and springs, or I can still use stock shocks with aftermarket springs?
