Default Lowering a tC

About how much did you guys have to pay to get your rides lowered?

I figured I'd get the springs (TRD probably) myself from one of the online dealers.
Last time my car was in the garage, I asked the guy about replacing the springs, and he quoted me about $600 for labor alone. Granted, I've never had a car lowered before, and that might be perfectly reasonable, but offhand, it seemed pretty high...

What's typical for something like that?

The place where i got my car puts the TRD stuff on all scions, and there price for the TRD Springs AND to put them on is $403. so i think they are charging to much.

It should only take an experienced mechanic 2-3 hours (@ $65/hour) plus an alignment (if they are a good shop) for approximately $125. So, figuring 3 hours plus alignment is $320 (plus taxes) Even if they figure 4 hours to do the install, which is completely retarded, you're still under $400.

Keep shopping for another installer...

Also, check your local area for 'auto enhancement' (tuner) shops. They should be able to install for less than $200. You can get an alignment at Midas for $100.

it only took me about an hour and 20 minutes to put mine on...so it shouldn't cost you more than 300 total with alignment

Dude, I tried finding an experienced shop to do the install at a good price and had no luck. Most shops would do a spring install but they have to purchase the springs themselves. Do the install yourself. I did and couldnt be happier.

$600 for labor alone???? &^%$#! go back to that idiot and tell him $#&* YOU! lol that fool tried to hustle you. any shop should be willing to do it for 100-150.

piece of advice, don't go extrememly cheap on installation. i've read all over these forums about people who have gone cheap and that the install was all screwed up.

i had my cousin do mine...TRD....and i helped him some. I thought i t was going to be a lot more difficult than it really was. Fronts were easy but the backs are a hassle because you have to get in the trunk to do it, you can't change them from under the car...also i didn't need an alignment with my drop.

I say spend the money on some tools and spring compressors. Then do it yourself on the weekend. I mean even if you've never done suspension work before you should be able to handle this. All you'll need to do is get the alignment when you're done.
