Default Pops, Creaks, and Clunks

I bought my tc when they were first released, it has 37,000 miles on it, and it's making some alarming noises.

-When turning the steering wheel it makes some nasty creaking sounds (at stop or very low speeds)

-When braking I will occasionally hear an alarming pop from somewhere in the bottom front of the car

-I have a clunking noise from the rear hatch area and I don't know if it's a loose strut bolt or if it is a completely blown strut. I have trd springs and schocks installed.

Any help with diagnosing any of these problems would be greatly appreciated!

when i creep up slowly and turn the wheel, sometimes i hear a popping sound, metallic, i think possibly my rack-pinion might have something to do with it, but kinda sounds like how the o2 would sound if it was hitting against the s-pipe

I have some creaking noises as well. My 07 tC with 25k miles sounds like a fkin schooner from the 1800's.

I feel you man, I get some creaks at certain speeds or even when it's real cold and I hit a slight bump it's a nasty pop. But I just turn up the stereo and get over it lol...

One thing I can't get over though, I don't know if you guys ever get it, but when I'm on the freeway and doing 75-ish, the engine will sometimes sound like it's sputtering almost...or gasping for air kinda. I can feel it in the pedal and feel the whole car kinda vibrate a little bit... I don't know what it is, anyone else get that?

yeah, i just try to ignore it or turn up the music. The car still drives perfectly fine, just makes some noises. I don't know if it is a warning of mechanical failures to come, but i s'pose there's not much to be done until something breaks. Either way, it's going to end up with a trip to the dealership.

Somebody told me it might be my cv boot but wouldn't that make a clunking noise? So who knows guess I'll just have to see what happens with it

I have had the same problem. At slower speeds when I apply the brakes, I get some creaking and grinding in the back.

I have had it checked out by a few brake places and also by toyota and they say its no problem so I dont know

Yeah, my best friend works at a car dealership and he suggested that it could be the cv joints. I don't think that I've ever driven my car hard enough that I would wear those out in 37K miles.

i get vibrations and such from the hatch area, i've been told by a friend that it comes from the actual latch that holds the hatch down and u need to open it up and readjust the latch tightness and spray it with wd40

ZOMG. i have this one constant and consistent rattle from my hatch area that is F'ing driving me crazy. I've had at least 2 hatch rattle related TSBs done and still have this one.

The tinyest little bump sets this rattle off. its horrible. i can hear it over my stereo.

i'm about to schedule an appt. with a local (glenside PA) dealer now... and if they can't fix it, i'll do 1800 70 scion

lucky you. no, this is most DEFinitely an interior issue. As my 7 year old describes, it sounds like its comign from right over her head as she sits in the rear passenger seat.

its either glass on plastic or plastic on plastic or plastic on sheet metal (though i think the first 2 are more likely)

this has just started happening to me. It is a loud clicking noise not cv joint related at all, I can feel it in the clutch pedal along with the steering column, as well as the floor boards, I can feel everytime it pops, I'm going to get underneath this weekend.

I have a 2005 Scion tC with a lil over 46k miles on her, she was ordered in June/July of 2004 and I got her in Oct when she came into the lot on special order. I have always had issues with loud pops, creaks from the roof and hatch, the car just makes a lot of noises. I have taken it in for several things related to the noises when it was under warranty and they even did several of the recall corrections on it and still nothing.. still makes noise... I know on mine if you run your finger between the back moonroof glass and the top of the hatch the gap is wider on one side by a lot... i can stick my thumb in on one side and if i slide it across about mid way it gets to tight to go any further. The dealer has always said there was nothing wrong it was just the car was either sitting wrong or something else... even after I called Scion Corp and fought with them and the dealer over a ton of things on the car the first year... either way I just finally broke down and said screw it... its still a good car, i still love it, its just noisy and loud and creaky... i just turn up the stereo and drive.
