Yea if you're looking for decent performance buy some nice slotted rotors that are stock size and use your stock caliper, change out the break pad. Get some brembo rotors. Full blown kits are just too expensive. Unless you're packing some serious horses you don't even need it.

FYI our rotors are cheaper than the Brembo direct replacements (at elast where I have seen them advertised)and every bit as good.

The best bang for the buck BBK is rotora. You'll be paying alot less than 1.5k. Let me know if you want one

Do BBK's require maintenance? I heard you have to bleed the brakes from time to time which is a pain....

No more than a normal system. The only time you would want to bleed the brakes often is if you are heating them up enough to cause the fluid to boil. The only place you would be doing that is at the track...which is why you would buy a BBK in the first place.

In normal use on the street as a daily driver, there is no extra mantenance required except for kits that dont use dust boots. Those need to be removed and cleaned to make sure brake dust buildup does not cause the pistons to bind up.
