Default shake rattle and roll (not very well)

OK so for a while now I have had a bit of a vibration issue with my car. Ok its more of a shudder while driving that can only be felt with the steering wheel and the brake. The shaking occurs at speeds greater than or equal to 70mph and whenever i depress the brake pedal. My first thought was warped rotors (mind you I have a rotora BBK) so to be safe I replaced all rotors and pads and prayed for good luck. Nothing changed. Next idea was a bent or unbalanced rim. I found that one of my old rims had a slight bend, so I removed it and fixed it and sold it. So problem solved? No! I got my new volks and mounted the tires and balanced the rims put them on and BAM the shudder is still there.

I am not thinking its rims, nor am i thinking its rotors. Could this be a suspension issue? Maybe something gone coo-coo with the steering column?

Summary:
Shakes at speeds at and over 70
Shakes while braking
Rotors and pads replaced and broken in -> no change
Wheels replaced (because of bent rim)
New tires mounted on new wheels and balanced -> still shakes

Anyone have any ideas?

How is your alignment? What kind of drop do you have?

From what I have been told (namely by an alignment shop) is that this isnt an alignment issue. I am on tein ssps dropped like 2.4 inches

Hmm...I have about the same drop (s-techs) and I don't get any shakes at higher speed. Mine come at lower speeds while shifting. The drivetrain might just need to warm up a little.

I hope you get some other people posting in here to help, but it is a holiday...

hmm not the exact situtation you have but I noticed some vibration too more felt in the steering wheel from 1st to late 2nd especially when I accelerate a lil hard then starts to dissappear at 3rd very little when braking, i noticed it when I installed my tein ssp but now I hadnt noticed it for awhile, maybe I got used to it?

Couple of questions
- how much balancing weight did the new tires take to balance up?
- did you match mount the tires to the wheels? usually a dot on the sidewall lines up with the valve stem.
- do you have hubcentric rings?
- have you checked the chassis bolts/suspension bolts and re-torqued them to the settings in the service manual? might be a loose subframe, no i'm not joking.
- have you checked the sliding pins on the brake calipers for smooth operation? might need to be re-lubed. A sticking caliper might cause this.
- Have you checked the run out of the new rotors? less that 0.10mm?

there are some things to check. let us know

If you've replaced EVERYTHING else, it most likely has to be your alignment.

I'm not trying to sound like a smart ***, have you checked to make sure the caliper bolts are tight? I had this problem with my old truck, the threads were jacked and caused the bolts to back out.... shook like crazy.

well the thing is that wouldn't explain the shaking at highway speeds... im gonna try to get my crap rebalanced again and maybe that would do it. I will have my shop check out the other things too once my daily driver gets fixed.

lemme clarify this a little since I realized i wasn't being specific.

It shakes while crusing or accelerating at speeds of 70mph or over

It also shakes whenever braking regardless of the speed (its not prejudice like the accelerating part is :D )

I had the same exact problem. Someone recomended me to discount tire co. Sure enough they took care of the problem real quick. Ill try to find the part # they installed. In my case it was my rims, brand new ones too. They told me some rims take differ hub-something. The part that goes in the center of the wheel. And if not the correct size then you get that nasty vibration on your steering-wheel. So i would highly recomend looking there. And contact youre best tire shop if you dont have a local discount tire co

they are called hub-centric rings...
We have 73.1 and you have to find out what size your rim hub is! if you dont know ask the manufactuer of the wheels.
Sad thing is, i put these on and still have VIBRATION!
talk about ____ed!
08 Tc new rims new tires and i feel like i am in a massage chair @ 70!
