Thank you for the PM Digital. We will take care of you via PM or email as this is the only time we have had this problem with this brace or any others, even from guys who were on the track or our test car driver whos car impacted a K rail at 70 mph

TC1 Rear Trunk Brace revision has been made thanks to Digital. We changed the end cups out from .065" wall thickness to .120" This will resolve the issue that Digital had with his cups deforming. Wed like to thank him for showing us this issue as it was the only time we had ever seen this occur and wed like to encourage anyone to shoot us a message if you feel that we could make a revision to our products. After 2 and a half years of making products we are still learning and using that knowledge to progress and push the envelope. You guys are awesome!

Any issues with scrapping or hitting the front under brace? Some areas I have to drive around here for work have stupid overly sized speed bumps they stuck on the roads that you might as well call curbs.

Default tC2 underbody cross brace

http://www.tbperformanceproducts.com/scion-tc2.php

I wanted to add a quick review of tb performances underbody crossbrace v2 for scion tC2. Shipping took 10days due to the same issue I had before of it not being released fromelectronically shipped. Brace wasreshipped in two days which came just in time. Installation was a breeze. I tookit to a corner garage to ensure safety. Simplyremove bolts and reinstall with brace. The level is not of concern even with loweringsprings.

Brace sits under the windscreen. This is closer up than I thought but as I drivethe car I realize this is where the cars 50/50 weight point is, causing most ofthe benefits of this cross brace. Thegarage that installed it was convinced it would have no effect and is cosmeticonly, but I swear I notice it. I do havefront and rear strut bar and trd springs.

Before the brace – the car was stable because of the strutsand springs but I did notice the car jumping/moving back and forth and side toside (a bit similar to glass of water) The control of the sway if you will. It was difficult to feel comfortable throwingthe weight around quickly. (GTI, ST, Si don’treally have to deal with this) Before my springs or strut bars, this carhandling was pretty low end I admit.

After the brace – The car feels a bit more expensive. The cars weight seems more controlled andbalanced inside the car. When under quickacceleration and turns, the car feels like its center of balance is being movedmore from its center then from the front of center of balance like before. Theresult is an easier car to drive; less jumpy, rocky, and more agile. Withmy other suspension packages, this car is getting very sport touring; to levelsthat are unfair for this price range. MytC feels stronger than ever. Give mesome summer tires and I goodbye mini cooper S

I'm still riding on the stock suspension for now, but looking under the front of the car you would hit the exhaust S-pipe before hitting the TB underbody brace.

Does anyone know the torque specs when you install the bottom front and bottom rear braces? Thank you.

I got both the front and rear underbraces installed. Made a difference for sure. You can feel more stable taking corners and even driving straight. The torque specs people have been posting have been way off. TB emailed me and said between 35-45. Anyways there is less body roll and definitely less chasis noise going up and down steep roads. I think they were worth it. Front underbrace does been upwards a little as seen in other pictures. I'll try to post some pictures whenever I can.

35 - 45??? can you explain why? That can't be right...when i broke them loose for the first time since i bought the car new, they were at the very least 90...i would be scared to drive around with a sub frame bolt torqued to 40lbs, might want to check that again.

Really no reason. It's the range they normally install them. So far I haven't had any problems. I might tighten them up later this weekend but I did notice that they were not that heavily torqued down to begin with on my 07 tC. I got the car new but it now has over 70K+.

Which is why I would be scared not to torque them down tight. I have read a lot about the early TC's bolts would vibrate loose. At 40lbs there's not much keeping that from happening.

On my 2010 everything is secured with lock tight. I guess if you used lock tight you should be alright but with the bolts coming loose being a known problem, I personally am not willing to take that risk. I just wanted to know why b/c I don't have concrete answers on this topic much like everyone else.

You could try contacting TB themselves through email and see if you get another answer. I'm also trying to find the manuals that have the torque specs in those areas on the car.

For the rear I can find the part and part number but I can't seem to find them on the schematic for the torque specs. Hell the part is not even in the picture. I found the front and rear repair manual it says to torque it at 59 ft. lbs for the front. The rear is a mystery.

Please do and thanks! The only parts of the manual I can find online were the links I previously posted about two or so back. I found the front for the front under brace but the rear one is difficult to confirm.

Hey guys,
Just joined the forums, been lurking for a while. Lots of fun stuff here...

With things stiffened up with these braces, how's the ride?I'm thinking off beginning some mods on my Tc and this seemed like an easy first step. A lot of people seem to recommend upgrading suspension first before tuning the engine or messing with exhaust. Since this is my daily driver, too, I didn't want to deal with engine stuff just to get some more fun out of the car, and maybe take it to the track once in a while.
So, if I put all three of these braces on my daily driver, does it make the drive less comfortable? My guess would be no since you're just reducing body roll, etc., and not changing the shock absorbers. But what's been your experience?

Also, I've got the tech manual for the car. What exactly is the name of the rear brace we're looking for torque specs on, maybe I can dig it up if I knew what I was looking for.

Peace

Peege3

There is no difference in ride quality, only difference you will notice is in the corners.

As for the exact bolt name, I am unsure, maybe someone can chime in and help out but I think it would be something to the effect of "rear subframe fastener" or bolt maybe...
