Tech Info: Selecting the right brakes (street, autox, track)
Since we couldn't find a good post about brake upgrade options for the TC, we decided to post one up.
First, the TC has the following brakes:
Front: 2000+ Toyota Celica
Rear: 2000-2006 Toyota Camry
What does this mean to you?
If you are just daily driving your vehicle and do not care about performance, then nothing. However, if you are on this forum then you probably don't fall into this category.
Most likely you want more brake performance: strong initial bite, good rotor wear and less dust. Therefore, depending on what you do with the car, there is the right brake pad for you.
We have broken up the pads into 3 different categories below:
For high performance street driving and occasional autoX:
For maximum streetable performance (autoX and Track events with street tires):
For all out track cars:
As far as brake rotors, this also depends on how the car is used.
For most applications, the OEM replacement 'blank' rotors are completely adequate. If you upgrade your pads for maximum streetable performance, there are some options to consider.
Brake rotor options:
Once you have the pads and rotors sorted out, the last upgrade options you have are the brake lines and brake fluid. When selecting a stainless steel, make sure that they are DOT certified. Stainless steel brake lines resist expansion under high heat and pressure, whereas the stock rubber lines are able to expand.

StopTech also makes their own lines
Axxis Ultimate and Deluxe could be added for street pads.
Rotors: DBA, Brembo & StopTech (which now encompasses Power Slot)
Fluid, let's not fotget there is a Motul DOT 4 and 5.

That is great info ! Thanks for putting it all together for us. I wanted to add from personal expreiance that the Hawk HP+ and the Stock rotors along with ATE blue are about perfect for the TC. This car has seen laps at VIR, Langley Speedway and Virginia motorsports park. It will be at Hyperfest in a couple of weeks and are not expecting a lack of brakes the entire weekend.
