Default waiting on hotchkis and got TRD's

So I ordered a set of Hotchkis springs and they just showed up on my door step this morning. But as soon as I opened the box, I noticed that something didn't look right. I pulled the springs out and I had got a set of TRD's instead. I quickly looked at my invoice and I was charged for the TRD's and not the Hotchkis. Do you think that I should spend the shipping and the extra money for the Hotchkis or just stick with the TRD's that I got. I live in Alaska so shipping is super expensive, like overseas rates, and the roads here aren't the best. I wasn't really worried about scraping, but was still in the back of my mind when I ordered the hotchkis. I got what I paid for, but just wanted another opinion. Oh and another quick question, I am not planing on driving the car for a few more months, until the snow melts. If I were to put the springs on and just let the car sit in the garage would they settle or do they settle more whent he car is driven. thanks

I was going with hotchkis as well, but rough roads in my area caused me to go with trd spring. I'm gonna order trd struts as well and install them together. Hotchkis drop looks really sick but if you worry about scrapping and rubbing issue, trd setup is good for you

well I have hotchkis and I love them....but i you say the roads are pretty messy then I would probably stay with thr trd's

but you also should think what size of rims you might want....IMO 17 or so look nasty on trd's but 18 and up would look good on trds

The TRD drop does look great with 18"s and you'll be hard pressed to find a bump or dip that will cause rubbing with the TRDs. I believe the Hotchkis springs have a higher rate, but the TRD's do a pretty decent job of firming up the ride (not too stiff). Pair the springs with the TRD struts and you'll be golden.

I've got the trds and love em. I wouldve bottomed out a lot had I had lower springs. Sometimes just turning into a driveway at 2 mph can be difficult and the trds dont put me in danger. Living in alaska, i'd consider that.

Yeah I am pretty sure that I am going to stick witht the TRD's for now. I was mainly looking for performance not looks espically, but the hotchkis drop does look really good. But being in AK the road can get pretty crappy. I got the TRD rear sway along with the package, so with both of those mods I am sure that I will be happy with it over stock.

about the springs settling. will the springs settle just sitting in the gargage for a month or 2. Or will I have to put some miles on them before they totally settle?

They will settle faster if you drive on it, but it will settle either way. It may settle a bit uneven if you just leave it in the garage, but once you take it out whether its 2 months from now or two years, it will finish settling then.

Seems somewhat of a blessing in disguise. Funny how you mentioned you were originally concerned about the Hotchkis drop, and wa la, u get the TRD. Under the conditions you described, the TRD springs sound like they will make you much happier!

yeah its probably for the best that I got the TRD's haha, another bonus is that toyota wont take a second glance at them if i were to have suspension problems down the road. all for the best i suppose
