i have 05 tc with about 60k. the steering wheel shakes back and forth while i drive. i think i have noticed it recently..the shaking is not too extreme but noticeable. any ideas why ?

 

Get your wheels balanced.

 

^ and have the front end checked out while its on a lift

 

for real.... how ppl get their license in America?!?! i have never seen a blown up tire piece on the road in my country...

 

( blown up tires have nothing to do with you unbalanced tires............... but what i said is a fact....)

 

how fast do you have to drive until the steering wheel shake? but it is most likely that your wheels are unbalanced. if you step on your brakes and the steering wheel shakes, it means that your rotors are warped.

 

Same thing happend to my car, one of the wheels on my car literally started to rip on the side (cheap "Sonar" tires that came with car) that it made the car unbalanced. Once i replace them and got the car balanced, the steering wheel stopped shaking. Also, it would shake really bad when i went less than 60 mph

 

Front wheels are out of balance, bent wheel, tire going bad either one of these issues I just mentioned can cause it.

 

i'm going to go with the un-likley option. warped rotors can cause this as well.
