Default 17x9 or 17x10 in the FRONT?!?!

Hey, I'm in a bit of a dilemma and need some help. As you may know I was the ones with the rota grids 9.5 et38 all around. Sold them and now in the market to purchase new rims.

I am contemplating if i should stay safe and go go down half an inch to 17x9 et14 in the front OR head towards the double digits and go half inch more to 17x10 et25.

BUT, it all comes down to the tires and how much clearance I have inside.

If i do go x9 then i will get 215/45 tires which is stock. Less likely of rubbing anything.
and if i do x10 i will have to go 225/45 or maybe even 235/45 and risk rubbing in the front.
(of course these have to be stretched.)

I wanna hear peoples opinions and if anyone has tried these set ups before!
I'm planning to slam my car all the way my coilovers can go and i DON'T want to rub. Theres a poll so please vote!

Thanks everyone.

if you can manage to fit the 17x10 i say go for it, but ur definately gonna need a bigger stretch than 225, maybe 215 or 205, even then thats a tight fit, its a wide ___ wheel with a very low offset, but if you can make it work that one will be pure sex

Default 9 or 10 wide

U might get away with just rolling the fenders instead of stretching them. (less time spent on labor & the risk of paint chipping) Wider looks mean!

his fenders are rolled..well the rears are iono bout the front. I voted for 10 et 18 because no one is running that..however et30 might be a better choice. Hmm i guess looks is all that matters to you so go et18

PTuning is running a 285 up front with pulled fenders and no rubbing at all.

Stretching = Fail.

stretching =/= Fail. Its a style. I don't want to turn this into one of those stretching is dangerous threads.

I want rims that will poke out and not cause rubbing to my fenders without crazy modification like the ptuning scion did.

LOL yea it is a style but very unsafe. Lets say your tires blow because of being stretched and you lose control crashing your ride. I dont think you will have to worry about rubbing anymore. Simple as is, our ride is not meant to run 10s. Stretched tires dont guarantee rub free scenarios, they just decrease the amount of rubbing. I say go with the first option to be safe.

lets please not get into whether or not stretching is safe in this thread, it has been discussed before, stretch looks nice and is not at all "unsafe". that and it improves handling characteristics, since when you stretch a tire the sidewall becomes much stiffer

edit: stretching can be unsafe if done incorrectly or if a tire that is not meant to stretch is used

but their advan's don't have +18 offset. more like +35 I believe??

also 285 size dosen't mean anything. what's the sidewall size?

285/30 or even 285/35 have shorter sidewall than 235/45.

but since ptuning is running 18" and steven wants to run 17" the difference will narrow down.

17x10 +18 with 235/45/17 tires will be pretty hard to fit if you wanna keep slamming your car, too.

But anything is possible, it all depends on how much work you are willing to put on your car.

After I get my new rims, I might order a new set of 18x10.5 +19 all around. (no widebody, just hecka pulling job.)

I know sretching tires is not really safe to do, but it sure looks good. BTW, 235/45 on 10" won't be stretched at all (depends on tire brands but it's still not enough) 225/45 will have a little bit of stretch.

he needs to just do a 205/45 and it will look great, you may need a slight pull and some camber but it will look sexy if you pull it off

so I say if you wanna keep your ride height while not worrying about rubbing, go with 17x9 +30, Steven.
