17x9 or 17x10 in the FRONT?!?!
i was refering to the fact that a 215 on a 7in wheel will perform worse than a 215 on a 8in wheels since the sidewall will be stiffer from stretching the tire, not that a 215 will outperform a 245
I like the stretched look, and there's a reason why drifters stretch their tires other than looks. If the sidewall changes (lets call it pitch lol) pitch or sidewall characteristics the drift is drastically changed. Not a huge deal, but in competitions keeping those front wheels locked is a huge plus.
Now with the stretch debate I say go for it. If done right it is as safe as no stretch. Like the OP said it must be done right with a tire that is safely stretchable.
Now if you are truly worried about handling you might want to raise your car back to TRD or hotchkiss springs and TRD or Koni shocks because being as low as you are affects the geometry of the McPherson suspension setup.
Now if you are doing this for style purposes only I say go for it. 17x10 front and back would be sw33t and you would most likely be the only one rocking it.
If you are worried about rubbing so much just get a 35 size tire.
good luck with your project.

OP, reasons you should go with 17x9 et 30
1. Safer
2. Cheaper to maintain (cheaper tires)
3. Lighter (weight) if that even matters to you, probably not
4. 17x9 is big enough, et30 offset is sexy
5. Since your about looks, BBK might be able to fit behind a 30 offset rim w/o spacers

2. tires will be cheaper or about the same for the 10, since he will be streching them\
3. he is going for looks
4. its not flush though
5. BBK will most likely fit behind the 10 too
so what it comes down to is purely looks, since that is what he wants. And like i said if the op believes he is willing to do the work to fit the 10 then i say GO FOR IT! youll be the first one and its gonna look hawt
op: you said you want the rim to poke, you will not accomplish this with the 9in one

9" +25 with -1.5 camber on PULLED fender looks like this.

even with about -2.5 camber 9" +30 will be flush.
yea but you gotta keep in mind that he also wants to keep slamming his car without any rubbing issues. it will be pretty tough to do it with 10" +18 which will stick out 20mm more than my current setup from above and not to mention that mine already has a nice poke. He will have to put at least -3 degrees of camber and stretch tires like ____ (i'm talking about a real stretch not like 215/35 stretch) but I still don't know if he will avoid rubbing when going fast on sharp turns.
since his f2 coilovers have 8kg spring rate in front, he can upgrade his spring rates to higher ones but f2 currently don't offer any custom spring rates. 8kg is not stiff enough to minimize bouncing which will cause rubbing issue.

dang, Steven....
2 pages of explanation of nothing...
here we go again, 17x9 +14 and 17x10 +25 will sit out almost same so either one will require about same amount of fender/camber work.

Haha, well it wasn't really for nothing. Lots of things got cleared up for me and From all the explaining i was able to lean towards 17x9.
The fact that it is less wider but crazy offset.
Tires i can use is 215/45 which is stock and will not mess up my mileage.
and if I did need to i can also do 205/45 if i end up rubbing.
No one as of right now that i know is running this "setup" in the front on their tC.
Also, i just tried my friends 17x8 et35 and slammed my car all the way down and no rub at all :D. So another inch wont hurt.
All is well.
